Paradox has announced a new title: East Vs. West: Heart of Iron. The strategy game will focus on the tensions between the Soviet Union (Russia) and the U.S. after the second world war.
Paradox Interactive recently published War of the Roses, a third person, medieval multiplayer. But its the strategy games like Crusader kings and Europa Universalis and the mighty Hearts of Iron games that it is best loved for...
It's not the first game to evolve around the Cold War, however the setting is still relatively untouched. The only game that comes to mind focusing on this was Call of Duty: Black Ops, which evolved more around a self-created story rather then facts of the time.
The game will take place between 1946 and 1991. Players will have to increase influence through diplomacy, economy and espionage. The Cold War is a special one, as there are close to no bullet's fired. This does not mean it weren't dangerous times, as the world was at the brink of total destruction by means of nuclear warfare.
Players can appeal to the UN, if no other solutions are available. The game also has a multiplayer mode with a maximum of 32 players who compete with each other in the arms race. Knowing this, the game promises to be unique and exciting.
East Vs. West: Heart of Iron is scheduled for release Q2 of 2013 for PC. I'm excited about this setting, and you?
