Guess what, Shadow of the Tomb Raider is the real deal, and now we’ve got the first teaser trailer to feast our eyes on.
From the looks of the all-too-brief snippet, Lara will be venturing to Central or South America for her next outing, with a brief glimpse of a Mayan-y pyramid being the big giveaway. Naturally, the Mayan them lends itself well to the jungle, with Lara Croft running through a dense jungle environment in the trailer, as well as sneaking up behind some sort of camouflaged mercenary.
The last few Tomb Raider games have leaned quite nicely toward stealth play (well, at least more stealthy than repeatedly side-flipping over a tiger and using auto-aim to take it down) and the thick jungle could lend itself well to this sort of play. Sneaking through the undergrowth, using her bow for silent takedowns, and of course, scampering up trees for the aerial threat. In my heart, this will be the Snake Eater of the Tomb Raider series, although I'm probably getting a bit ahead of myself.
Just as expected, there’s a full reveal of Shadow of the Tomb Raider due to drop on April 27th, before a launch penciled in for September 14th, 2018. That’s pretty much exactly six months from announce to release, emblematic of the shorter hype cycles that publishers seem to love these days.
We’ll bring you more on Shadow of the Tomb Raider as and when we hear it but for now, what are you hoping for from what’s been touted as the finale to the ‘Young Lara’ trilogy?
