If you’ve got a spare 100 hours, step up right up and discover all of the key new features inbound for Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire. Obsidian, in conjunction with publisher Versus Evil, has revealed the new ‘Features’ trailer for Pillars 2 today, providing an oversight on the new combat mechanics, sailing ships across the Deadfire archipelago, deeper stat customisation, and a more expansive world.

Of particular interest is the character skill screen. Players are going to have a lot more to think about when they level their characters up, particularly considering the glut of passive and active skills. Specific characters can now be geared towards diplomacy, being streetwise, or having sleight of hand for some sneaky pickpocketing. And, while I haven't been keeping up with the sequel, do I see Eder and Aloth there?

I myself am currently slowly but surely working my way through the original. Phwoar, it’s big, isn’t it? I’m at about 25 hours I believe and I still don’t feel like I’ve made a dent in the actual storyline. It’s round about now I start to feel the twinge of pressure that results from an impending sequel. PoE2: Deadfire looks to be making plenty of quality of life changes, while I’m a sucker for a seafaring adventure, so I feel almost duty bound to finish the original first.

Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire is out on May 8th for PC, with a PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch release due later in the year.
