JRPG fans on PC are in for a bit of a treat later this year when Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age brings the mainline series to the good old Personal Computer for the first time. And PS4, naturally. Dragon Quest XI has been kicking around in Japan for a while now, but the team at Square Enix have been busy doing a monstrously large localisation effort in order to translate a 90-hour Japanese RPG into umpteen different languages.

Plenty of footage is now emerging of Dragon Quest XI in English though, with PlayStation Underground getting their mitts of 17-minutes of direct gameplay from an early portion of the game. It’s textbook dungeon crawling, and while Square Enix’s other big RPG series seeks to constantly reinvent itself, Dragon Quest XI appears to delight in sticking to its roots.

It doesn’t look like Dragon Quest 11 is going to win over any JRPG detractors, but for those after an old-school JRPG experience, it's definitely ticking a lot of boxes.

Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age is out on September 4th for PC and Playstation 4. There’s no word on the DQXI PC system requirements just yet but we’ll bring you those just as soon as we hear about them.
