While Fortnite: Save the World players have been cruising about in vehicles for some time now, in the Battle Royale mode they’re conspicuous by their absence. Well, that’s all set to change soon, with Epic Games revealing the first vehicle coming to Fortnite: Battle Royale, and it’s an unusual one.

Boot up Fortnite now and the usual message of the day lets fans knowing that a Shopping Cart is coming soon, known as a trolley this side of the pond. I expect many of us have experience piloting these around a car park/ down a very steep hill, so let’s hope those real-world skills can transfer.

Just in case you were in any doubt as to whether the Shopping Cart is considered a vehicle, or just a glorified pack mule, the description says “Roll into battle alone or with a buddy!”. It sounds as if you’ll both be able to hop in and take the Shopping Cart for a ride, although a nice hill is presumably going to be needed. On the subject of a pack mule, it would be very neat if the Shopping Cart could be loaded up with excess weapons and equipment, and then pushed around.

If you’re hoping to hop online and begin your supermarket sweep then you’ll have to wait a few days. The Shopping Cart is tagged as ‘Coming Soon’ to Fortnite: Battle Royale, which usually means it’s going to be added at some point this week.

It doesn’t sound as if the shopping trolley is the car or tank that some may have been hoping for, but it’s definitely a very Fortnite way of doing vehicles.

Do you think vehicles can work within the Fortnite formula? How do you reckon the Shopping Cart is going to be used? Let us know your thoughts!
