If you’re a fan of XCOM-style turn-based tactics, but those silly little green men aren’t grimdark enough for you, Space Hulk: Tactics could fill that void. It’s an adaptation of the Space Hulk board game, albeit updated with new twists made possible through this medium we call videogames.
Space Hulk: Tactics features turn-based strategising, team management, unit customisation, and a new card system. The cards weren’t in the tabletop game, and deck building provides an additional layer of depth and strategy. If you’re trying to wrap your head around it all, Focus Home Interactive has handily provided a new overview trailer.
In terms of content, Space Hulk: Tactics will feature two non-linear, narrative-driven single-player campaigns. One puts players in charge of a band of Blood Angels Space Marine Terminators, while the other flips the tables, granting control of the alien Genestealer forces. Those Space Marines always were a bit big for their boots.
Along with this, there’ll be a map maker included, allowing the community to stitch together and share their own Space Hulk: Tactics maps, complete with custom objectives.
Space Hulk Tactics is coming to PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2018.
