And there it is, the world premiere of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. Everything you’ve heard is true. It’s set in Ancient Greece, allowing the player to become a legendary Spartan hero. For the first time in the history of the series, players will be able to pick from a man and woman on their odyssey, either Alexios or Kassandra, before personalising them with gear, upgrading their abilities to suit your playstyle, as well as personalising your own ship to sail the Aegean Sea.
Sailing is going to be a big component of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey as it’s set in a gigantic recreation of Ancient Greece, from the frozen mountains of the north, dense forests, cities, all the way down to the idyllic islands in the Mediterranean. Water makes up half of the explorable world, and we’re back to AC4: Black Flag-style naval combat. Unique crew members can be recruited for the ship, each packing special perks and abilities.
The creep towards The Witcher also continues apace. Players will have access to branching dialogue that will shape the story or the Peloponnesian War and the world around them. There is over 30 hours of dialogue in ACO, including multiple different game endings. Again, a series first.
“Beginning with the decision of which character to play as, Assassin's Creed Odyssey gives players the ability to make story-altering choices by navigating interactive dialogue, making or rejecting alliances, and pursuing romance,” explains Ubisoft.
“Assisted by a mysterious First Civilization artifact, the Spear of Leonidas, you'll also be able to unlock new, seemingly supernatural abilities as you journey through Greece, hunting secretive enemies, meeting famous historical figures, encountering myths, and fighting in huge battles between Athens and Sparta.”
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey will be launching on October 5th for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
