E3 2018 was the home of the sci-fi shooter/RPG hybrid. Honestly, there were dozens. If publishers want to stand out from this crowd they're going to need something special. One game most certainly did - it's our best game of E3 2018.

Ever since the official Cyberpunk Twitter account bleeped into life at the start of the year, we've been desperately hoping that CD Projekt RED was ready. It is.

Cyberpunk 2077 might be a third-party title but it owned the Microsoft Xbox press conference when it was revealed at the end via a hacking sequence. Night City was bathed in a sunny glow that we just didn't expect after the original tease, highlighting the day/night cycle that forms the backdrop to what promises to be one of the most dynamic open-world RPGs of all time.

The trailer for Cyberpunk 2077 was jaw-dropping, even more so when you start to hear that the game actually looks like that. But then the details started to arrive. We knew CD Projekt RED would have to work wonders if it wanted to top a masterpiece like The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, but it appears they're smashing those expectations out of the park. Cyberpunk 2077 will feature a huge open-world city explorable in first-person on foot, or third-person in vehicles, with hundreds of buildings that can be entered and thousands of rooms. It's The Witcher meets Deus Ex meets Grand Theft Auto, and what's not to love about that?
