Resident Evil 2 is back. It's been over twenty years since arguably the greatest game in the series graced us with its presence, and Resident Evil 2 Remake is ripping up the rulebook with a total overhaul. RE2 Remake features a new engine, a new behind-the-character camera, and reworked gameplay segments.

Resident Evil 2 Remake Minimum System Requirements

  • OS: Windows 7 64-bit
  • CPU: Intel Core i5-4460 3.2 GHz or AMD FX-6300 3.5 GHz
  • RAM: 8 GB System Memory
  • GPU RAM: 2 GB Video Memory
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 960 or AMD Radeon R7 260X
  • HDD: TBA
  • DX: DirectX 11

Resident Evil 2 Remake Recommended System Requirements

  • OS: Windows 7 64-bit
  • CPU: Intel Core i7-3770 3.4 GHz or AMD FX-9590 4.7 GHz
  • RAM: 8 GB System Memory
  • GPU RAM: 3 GB Video Memory
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 3GB or AMD Radeon RX 480 4GB
  • HDD: TBA
  • DX: DirectX 11

Resident Evil 2 Remake runs on the exact same RE Engine used for last year's Resident Evil 7, meaning the system requirements also very similar. The only change between the sets of specs is a slight bump in the GPU demands. The recommended GPU for RE2 Remake jumps from a GeForce GTX 960 or Radeon R9 280X up to a GeForce GTX 1060 or Radeon RX 480. This isn't an insignificant change and suggests Resident Evil 2 will require an extra gigabyte of video memory to run.

In terms of the minimum systems requirements, Resident Evil 2 Remake is identical to Resident Evil 7. For those operating around the minimum spec, you can likely expect very similar performance in both games. For point of reference, a 2GB Radeon R9 380 could achieve 60fps on Ultra at 1080p in Resident Evil 7 while dropping to High pushed the frame rate up to 77fps. On that basis, we could expect the minimum spec GPUs to be able to hit 60fps in RE2 Remake on 1080p at either High or Medium.

Remember, you can always check out how well your PC can run the Resident Evil 2 Remake System Requirements here, where you can check benchmarking and performance from other users. Compare your graphics card to the Resident Evil 2 Remake GPU benchmark chart.

I think the game will run better from fx 8350 or 8370 than FX 9590. Dont know why would they recomend that cpu which is much more power hungry when 8-series from fx would be more than sufficient to run the game.

its basically just speed. the two you names run at 4ghz and the 9590 is 700mhz faster. the boost of the two you named are still lower than the base 9590 (8370 has a 100mhz higher boost)

That's actually kind of reasonable. A 6(?) year old cpu as recommended

A 3770k with a nice OC is just as good as an i5 8400 which is considered pretty decent.

I had the 3770k, it's a good cpu. Ran at 4.2 without problems

Set Textures to medium, drop Shadow and maybe one or two more settings to High and you should be good to go.

It means that I need a gpu that's worth 370+ euro plus a new motherboard plus a new case to fit it all plus a new psu just to play my favorite game.

again, why do we have to stay stuck in old hardware? why not ask for help in getting a new game to run on old hardware instead of being negative and alienating yourself from everyone?
