Shenmue III developer Ys Net has provided a new update to Kickstarter backers. Included in the message is a section on Shenmue 3's PC system requirements, outlining the targeted minimum system specs for the eventual release. Ys Net has qualified the information with a disclaimer saying "Game is currently in development so system requirements may change without notice. We thank you for your understanding." Despite this, it does give us the ballpark specs they're shooting for with Shenmue 3.
Shenmue 3 Minimum System Requirements
- OS: Windows 7 64-bit
- CPU: Intel Core i5-4460 3.2GHz or AMD FX-8350 4.0 GHz
- RAM: 4 GB System Memory
- GPU RAM: 2 GB Video Memory
- GPU: GeForce GTX 650 Ti or Radeon R7 260 2GB
- HDD: 100GB Available Hard Drive Space
- API: DirectX 11
Shenmue 3 is developed in Unreal Engine 4, with a comparatively low budget and relatively run-of-the-mill visuals. To that end, Shenmue III doesn't look to be overly taxing on PC hardware.
To hit the minimum system requirements for Shenmue 3 you'll need a mid-range quad-core processor from the past four years or so. It'll need to be paired with a very reasonable 4GB RAM and a DirectX 11 compatible graphics card with at least 2GB video memory.
The one surprising element is the installation size. Ys Net have said the Shenmue III installation size is 100GB. That's absolutely massive. Either that figure is set to drop a lot between now and the 2019 launch, or Shenmue 3 is shaping up to have a heck of a lot of cut-scenes and high-quality audio.
