Infinity Ward has a job listing for a ‘Narrative Scripter’ to help work on a new Call of Duty game. There’s a new Call of Duty every year though, so what’s the interesting part? Well, the narrative script will be working on “a new, exciting, unannounced title for multiple next-gen platforms.”

It’s coming, ladies and gents. The next generation is coming. As for when, well it could be coming a lot sooner than we thought. Infinity Ward is a studio that runs like clockwork, you see. It’s one of three studios that pumps out a new Call of Duty title every three years, meaning a new Call of Duty is ready each and every year, and each game gets a three-year development cycle.

Infinity Ward’s last COD was Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare back in 2016. Then Sledgehammer released Call of Duty: WWII in 2017, Treyarch will launch COD: Black Ops 4 later this year, and then Infinity Ward will be back with its unannounced game in holiday 2019.

Which all means to say - there could be multiple next-generation consoles out, or nearly out, by the time that Infinity Ward launches a new Call of Duty in Q4 2019.

Now, the job listing doesn’t explicitly say what game this even is. It’s a cinematic first-person shooter with both multiplayer and single-player, and Infinity Ward has only ever developed Call of Duty games in its entire 16-year history, so it doesn’t take a genius to figure out what’s up here.

What do you think, could the next generation of consoles be ready to launch by late 2019? Is that too soon or is it about time? Let us know below!
