UPDATE : 16 July @ 14:21

Monster Hunter World PC graphics options revealed.

Alongside the Monster Hunter World system requirements that were revealed last week, the PC graphics options and advanced system settings for Monster Hunter World have also been detailed by Capcom.

Here's the full list of Monster Hunter World PC graphics settings for easier reading:

Monster Hunter World Display Settings

  • Brightness
  • Screen Mode Settings
  • Resolution Settings
  • Frame Rate
  • V-Sync
  • Graphics Settings (Presets)

Monster Hunter World Advanced Graphics Options

  • Resolution Scaling
  • Texture Quality
  • Ambient Occlusion
  • Volume Rendering Quality
  • Shadow Quality
  • Anti-Aliasing
  • LOD Bias
  • Mesh LOD Level Bias
  • Foliage Sway
  • Subsurface Scattering
  • Screen Space Reflection
  • Anisotropic Filtering
  • Water Reflection
  • SH Diffuse Quality
  • Dynamic Range
  • Z-Prepass

Based upon the average AAA title, we can reasonably assume that Screen Space Reflections, Water Reflections and Shadow Quality will be the most demanding graphics settings. Screen Space Reflections, in particular, can cripple performance if your video card isn't fast enough.

Monster Hunter World runs on a modified version of the MT Framework game engine, one of Capcom's proprietary game engines. It is distinct from the RE Engine used for Resident Evil 7 and so this will not clue us in on performance. The last big game to utilise MT Framework was Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen. While Dragon's Dogma had much lower system specs, it ran fantastically. Monster Hunter World is clearly going to be much more demanding, although it will only have visual parity with consoles. On PC, MonHun World can be run at higher resolutions and frame rates. The visuals themselves may look the same, however.

UPDATE : 09 July @ 18:56

Also we noticed that Monster Hunter World will come with a couple of DRM mechanisms. The first DRM that Monster Hunter World on PC will have is the famous 3rd party Denuvo anti tamper software. The second DRM for Monster Hunter World on PC is a limit of running the game on a max of 5 different PC's within a 24 hour period.

If you want some background reading on Denuvo Digital Rights Management software then check out some of our previous articles on the subject where we ran some tests to see what sort of performance impact Denuvo has on the games it has been loaded into.

UPDATE : 09 July @ 18:33

Monster Hunter World System Requirements Tweaked below.

Monster Hunter World's PC release date is 9th August 2018, which is in just 4 and a half weeks. The Monster Hunter World's system requirements that were leaked earlier were pretty accurate, with a few adjustments to the AMD system requirements. This is now updated below.

----------------------------

Yesterday Capcom's PC port for Monster Hunter World had its PC system requirements leaked over on a store called WeGame. The Monster Hunter World system requirements are scheduled to be officially announced later today, 9 July at 5pm BST or 9am PT.

The sys specs that were leaked were promptly removed from the store. If this was just a marketing ruse to attract attention for the store, prior to the PC release date and specs announcement then the data may be inaccurate. So the following PC Specs for Monster Hunter World may be changed later today at 5pm UK time, but for now lets take a look at the MH World specs for PC according to the leak. At the bottom of the article we mention the Monster Hunter World expected frames per second for High graphics settings.

The following Monster Hunter World system requirements are now confirmed as accurate by Capcoms press release.

Monster Hunter World Minimum System Requirements (Low: 30FPS @ 1080p)

  • OS: Windows 7 64-bit
  • CPU: Intel Core i5 4460 @ 3.2GHz or AMD FX 6300
  • RAM: 8 GB System Memory
  • GPU RAM: 2 GB Video Memory
  • GPU: GeForce GTX 760 or Radeon R7 260x
  • HDD: 20GB Available Hard Drive Space
  • API: DirectX 11

Monster Hunter World Recommended System Requirements (High: 30FPS @ 1080p)

  • OS: Windows 10 64-bit
  • CPU: Intel Core i7-3770 @3.4GHz or Core i3 8350 4GHz or AMD Ryzen 5 1500X
  • RAM: 8 GB System Memory
  • GPU RAM: 4 GB Video Memory
  • GPU: GeForce GTX 1060 3GB or Radeon RX 570X
  • HDD: 20GB Available Hard Drive Space
  • API: DirectX 11

The store that leaked the Monster Hunter System information implied that to get 30 FPS at 1080p on medium to low graphics settings you would need to meet the Monster Hunter World minimum system requirements, in particular a GTX 760, which of course is an old graphics card now. Couple that with an Intel i5 and you will meet Monster Hunters min reqs.

So its safe to say that if anyone wants to play Monster Hunter World they will be able to play it as long as they have a PC built with gaming hardware released within the past 5 years or so. The Monster Hunter World system memory requirement is a pretty standard 8GB RAM for both min and rec requirements.

To conclude the system requirements review for Monster Hunter World, most PC gamers can play Monster Hunter World on their current rigs. But if you want to enjoy some of the enhanced graphics that Monster Hunter Worlds MT Framework graphics engine can offer it is recommended that meeting a GTX 1060 3GB version graphics card paired with a pretty high end CPU, like the Intel i7 3770 is required. The GTX 1060 with Intels i7 and 8-16GB RAM will likely net 30 frames per second at 1080p on Monster Hunters World High graphic setting.

Once Monster Hunter World is released we will run some tests on the frame rates and post them up as usual, to see if the minimum pc system requirement mentioned above is accurate.

As ever, remember you can always check out how well your PC can run Monster Hunter World System Requirements here, where you can check benchmarking and performance from other users. Compare your graphics card to Monster Hunter World GPU benchmark chart and we also have a Monster Hunter World Frames Per Second system performance chart for you to check.

This game requires an intense amount of time to get the full experience, doesn't it?

CaptainAwesome

Oh yeah it does. I'm 200 hours in on PS4 and I'm still learning new things. It's a ton of fun and I would highly recommend it.

Should I get this game, Last Monster Hunter I played was on a PSP. Is it worth it now or should I wait for a discount in a future?

The Ps4 version currently costs 30€, meanwhile the PC version which doesn't have any visual upgrades, doesn't include all the patches (not even fixes) at launch, and is almost 8 months late costs 60€. If the game doesn't allow a framerate higher than 60 FPS I'm not on board, even though I've been hoping for a PC MH game for the last decade.

I'm pretty sure they went overboard with the recommendations & a lot less is needed to run the game stable

it should be able to depending on how picky it is at wanting 4 cores some games that require 4 cores will accept 2 cores and 4 threads as 4 cores and some want 4 solid cores minimum

Recommended specs seems ok and accurate, but i think minimum is a little bit too high, even AA titles dont recommend a gtx 760 as a minimum xD.

I guess the right suggestion would be GTX 750 Ti, it's the direct rival of R7 260x.

Gtx 760 is a mid range card from 2013... I think it's fair putting it in the minimum reqs

If GTX 760 is the minimum NVIDIA card, so R9 270x should be the AMD one, not R7 260x, unless this game was DirectX 12.

Well, when you start out - it's piss-easy. You take down the monster, get the gear up, etc. But the further you go - the harder the game becomes and the more fun and rewarding the monsters become to fight. I, personally, love the series :)
But you can easily sink 500+ hours into it and not have the full kit crafted, especially if you start expanding beyond one weapon class. It's great :D

So for low settings you need a Geforce 760 yet the standard PS4 looks way better with a weaker gpu it must be poorly optimized. A Geforce 1060 just to match standard PS4 settings do me a favour.

That says at 1080.
The PS4 doesn't run it at 1080, and if it does, it does not run well.

Because console... They had MH4U running at 60fps on the New 3DS, then the newer MH Generations was capped at 30... Consoles run MH World at sub-30fps too. So I see why...but no way in hell do I agree that it's a good experience...

Denuvo, no upgraded visual options (according to a PCGamer interview) and maybe a cap of 60 FPS (As one screenshot show, there could be higher options).
Doesn't look like a good port as of now, especially if you consider they took 7½ additional months..
Though they're considering to add "ultra options" in a free update at some point, just "Considering" it is pretty poor after 7 months..

They spent that time optimising the game and making sure it would run well.
We'll be able to pump 60fps out of it at the max settings the PS4 can give (which runs at a terrible frame rate on the console, but looks gorgeous).

Would you rather have all these additional options but it run like absolute crap? No.

After 8 months I expect it to have those features AND run well. The console versions already were reduced to 30€ while the PC version is offered for 60€ 8 months late.
