Last month there was so little out that it wasn't even worth making an indies list. In August, it's indies galore. And yes, I know I'm stretching the definition of indie with We Happy Few, from the now-Microsoft-owned Compulsion Games, but it began life as a Kickstarter project so it's a close-run thing.
In terms of what to expect this month, we've got some huge titles. Self-style 'Roguevania' Dead Cells finally leaves Early Access this week. It's one of the most highly rated titles on the entirety of Steam and the final release should be a big hit.
Elsewhere we've got more co-op rage-inducing cheffing with Overcooked! 2, the sublime looking Two Point Hospital (a spiritual successor to Theme Hospital, no less), the final ever season of The Walking Dead (maybe), and of course Post Scriptum. This latter game, in particular, has been generating huge hype and it's going to be fascinating to see whether this WW2 shooter can deliver.
This is the Police 2 - August 2nd / PC, PS4, Xbox One, Switch
Dead Cells - August 7th / PC, PS4, Xbox One, Switch
Post Scriptum - August 9th / PC
We Happy Few - August 10th / PC, PS4, Xbox One
Death’s Gambit - August 14th / PC, PS4
The Walking Dead: The Final Season - August 14th / PC, PS4, Xbox One, Switch
State of Mind - August 15th / PC, PS4, Xbox One, Switch
