It’s been clucking like a particularly irate chicken for a while now, but the much-teased Guacamelee! 2 release date has been revealed. And, we don’t have long to wait.
Guacamelee 2 will be coming to PC and PlayStation 4 on Tuesday, 21st August, so in about four weeks time. This time around they’ve added new chicken forms, obviously, as well as four-player drop-in, drop-out co-op multiplayer.
“Guacamelee! 2 is an epic adventure that can be experienced alone or co-operatively with 3 of your closest amigos,” says Gari Corriveau, lead designer at Drinkbox Studios. “Explore hundreds of new platforming and combat challenges. New abilities such as Eagle Boost, Rocket Kick, GOOOTCHA! and more add to Juan’s awesome arsenal of luchador moves.”
Corriveau has also promised that Guacamelee 2 will be an order of magnitude larger than the original, complete with more chicken-based powers, an enhanced skill tree, and a huge, inter-connected world.
The original Guacamelee was one of these games I played through in a single mammoth 8-hour session, I just could not put it down. Guacamelee 2’s got some big shoes to fill but Drinkbox Studios also has serious pedigree. And it’s Mexican-folklore-inspired-luchador-platform-brawler-Metroidvania-with-chickens, what’s not to love?
Guacamelee 2 is coming to PC and PlayStation 4 on August 21st.
