The holiday period is littered with the corpses of failed games. We have finite time and limited money, and even great games can be squeezed out of existence by AAA behemoths. The masters of this are EA. They killed off Titanfall 2 with their own game, launching Titanfall 2 just a week after Battlefield V. They also had the most anticipated game of the holiday season with Star Wars Battlefront 2. It was timed to coincide with the Star Wars movie, attached to the second biggest entertainment property of all time, and still, EA managed to screw it up.

A lesson here is that, no matter how much money is thrown at a game, if it launches at the wrong time, is overshadowed by something else, or is simply not good enough, it could be a colossal failure. It happens every year without fail, and odds are strong it’s going to happen in 2018 too.

And so this one is for the great predictors out there. The doomsayers, if you will. Your mission is incredibly simple. Pick which AAA game you think is going to underperform this year.

There’s a lot to pick from and you can only choose one. The idea isn’t to pick the game that will sell the least, but the one which you believe will fail to perform at the level that the publisher was expecting.

Get voting in the poll and let us know why you think your chosen game is going to fail, below! Enjoy your naysaying you miserable swines!

PS: Mine’s a toss-up between Fallout 76 and Just Cause 4, but I think Fallout 76 is going to be my winner. There are a lot of people that still feel stung about Fallout 4 and I don’t believe Bethesda has done a great job at all in explaining what Fallout 76 really is. The name will carry it a long way but it’s never going to hit as hard as Skyrim or Fallout 4.
