Superman actor Henry Cavill has admitted he’d love to play Geralt of Rivia in the upcoming The Witcher television series which is due to be produced for Netflix. As a side note, he’s also proven he’s got impeccable taste in videogames.
Speaking to IGN, Cavill was asked whether he’d be up for the grizzled role of the bathtub loving Geralt, admitting “'Absolutely. Yeah, that would be an amazing role.” He continued, “The books are really, really good… The books I started reading, and they are well worth a read.” Fair play, he’s obviously committed to the cause.
Naturally, when asked what games he’s been playing recently, Cavill stuck to the script and said "The Witcher 3. I just replayed all the way through. Love that game. Really good game."
He’s not the first choice that comes to mind when thinking who could take on such an illustrious role, although the internet has displayed its typical genius in mocking up an image for what Cavill would like in the shoes of Geralt.
Not bad. Not bad at all.
It sounds as if progress on The Witcher TV show is actually going swimmingly. Too often we heard about these things and then they fade into obscurity, but Lauren Schmidt Hissrich has already been teasing a draft of the full script for the season. It’s currently scheduled to feature eight episodes for the first season, while the pilot episode should be ready at some point in 2020.
What do you think then, could Havill pull off the role of Geralt? Or do you think another actor could make a better fit? Let us know what your thoughts are below!
