It’s here, it’s finally happening. Nvidia closed off its SIGGRAPH 18 event with a teaser trailer for the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2018, heavily hinting we could be set to see the next-gen gaming graphics card launch as soon as next week, on August 20th.
As we’ve known for some time, Nvidia is hosting a GeForce celebration event at Gamescom in Cologne next week. In the teaser footage, we can see the usernames in the chat include RoyTeX (RTX), Not_11, Mac-20 and Eight Tee. To top it all off, the numbers for the reveal date at the end of the trailer rise in the order 2-0-8-0, all but confirming that Nvidia’s next GeForce graphics card will indeed be the GeForce RTX 2080.
Details on the Radeon RTX 2080 are few and far between, but during the brief teaser clip above we can see a few glimpses of the new graphics card, complete with a sleek new shroud design, a new cooler, and the backplate design.
And that’s pretty much it, but we should know all the gory details by the time August 20th rolls around. It also lends a great deal of credence to last week’s leak which revealed the naming of the GeForce RTX 2080. In that same leak, AdoredTV claimed their source had confirmed the performance of the GeForce RTX 2080 would be in the region of 8% faster than the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti, and 50% faster than the GeForce GTX 1080 it’s replacing.
