Avalanche Studios has dropped a frankly insane new gameplay trailer for Just Cause 4, this time showcasing its new Extreme Weather effects with a tornado in full flow.
Just Cause 4 is being built on Avalanche’s new in-house Apex Engine, providing them with the tools to recreate unprecedented levels of physics-based destruction. The engine is given an absolute workout in this trailer, with each and every object in the object being picked up and hurled by the tornado. Each object is physically simulated and will dynamically be thrown across the environment based upon the size and trajectory of the tornado.
It’s really quite something to behold. You’ll have to skip to around the 2m45s mark in the trailer to see it in action. Rico Rodriguez makes use of a storm-chasing vehicle to get near the twister. Avalanche says this is the only vehicle which will be able to get near the tornado without being destroyed, and it makes a great vantage point for watching the trail of destruction left in its wake.
The video is capped off by some physics-based hijinks as Rico destroys two huge wind machines that are preventing the tornado from reaching a military base. With those out of the way, destruction awaits….
Just Cause 4 is coming to PC, Playstation 4 and Xbox One on December 4th, 2018.
