Bandai Namco has announced Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown will be blasting off the runway on January 18th, 2019, for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Have no fear PC gamers though, there’s just a two-week wait until a Steam release on February 1st, 2019.
Ace Combat 7 returns to the Usean continent, the battleground from Ace Combat 3 and Ace Combat 4, this time depicting a second Usean Continent War. Players will hop into a fighter jet as part of the Penitentiary Unit. They’re a bit like the Suicide Squad really; a military force formed entirely of criminals who get landed with the toughest of all missions.
“The team and I have been working diligently to produce an experience that will add another action-packed chapter to the Ace Combat franchise, but more importantly, be worthy of your time,” said Kazutoki Kono, Ace Combat 7’s brand director. “Thank you all once again for your patience, support and continued enthusiasm, we’ll see you in the skies soon!”
Ace Combat is one of those series that has passed me by over the years, although I’m certainly taking an interest in this one. It looks like gloriously melodramatic fighter jet anime with a ridiculously convoluted plot. The Metal Gear Solid of the skies, so I’m all in.
