Ubisoft and developer Blue Byte have announced Anno 1800 will be leading the Industrial Revolution from February 26th, 2019. They announced the release date for the highly anticipated management game alongside a Gamescom 2018 trailer, with Anno 1800 scooping up Best PC Game award on the Gamescom show floor.

This is Ubisoft we’re talking about though, so naturally, there’s an incomprehensibly large number of versions and pre-order bonuses attached to Anno 1800. There’s the Digital Standard Edition; the Digital Deluxe Edition with DLC and a digital artbook plus soundtrack; the Pioneer Collector’s Edition that comes in a wooden box with a lithographs, a steelbook and a letter replicated from the story campaign. Finally, there’s the pre-order bonus - the Imperial Pack. This includes an Anno 1602 Memorial, an Imperial Train, and an Imperial Command Ship.

In addition to the trailer, Blue Byte also delved a little into some of the new features inbound for Anno 1800. Firstly, players can now send out expedition crews that will travel the world in search of new discoveries. These play out like a choose-your-own-adventure book and offer benefits such as rare artifacts or a new creature for the zoo. The findings can be placed in the zoo or the museum. These are long-term cultural projects that will expand as the player acquires new items.

And while Anno 1800 is primarily about the European industrial revolution, once an empire is expanded enough, players will be able to set up new towns in the jungles of South America. Here there are rare resources and new forms of production to be discovered on the other side of the globe.

It sounds as if there are some fairly exciting changes inbound for Anno 1800, Blue Byte certainly aren’t afraid to mess with the formula.

Anno 1800 is out on February 26th, 2019, for PC.

This game has to be both a step forward and a step backward... I want to see the graphics of 2205 but the trade & gameplay of 2070.

Really liking the sense of scale which has increased. Lots more details. It's got me a bit excited for this
