IO Interactive and Warner Bros have dropped a new teaser trailer for Hitman 2, showing off a totally new level set in the heart of the South American rainforest. Whisper it, but it's looking really rather Snake Eater...
The Hitman series has always been about people, and how people behave and move, while typically set in and around dense urban environments. The lush jungles of Colombia represent quite the departure, appearing to place a greater emphasis on pure stealth and environmental traversal. It also happens to be a wonderful showcase for the new foliage stealth systems. We can see Agent 47 sneaking near invisibly through the undergrowth to surprise a guard before dragging him ominously back into the deep ferns.
It's not the first time our bald killer has found his way to the Colombian jungle though. All the way back in 2000, in the original Hitman: Codename 47, a handful of levels were set in Colombia. And, er, it's safe to say they weren't a strong point of that particular game.
IO Interactive is touting a living, breathing environment for this South American rainforest, so we can also expect the fauna to come into play on top of the flora. While not much is given away in the trailer, it sounds as if disturbing birds could cause them to fly away and reveal Agent 47’s location, while IO would be doing the world a disservice if at least one target didn’t end up being barrel-rolled by a crocodile. Look, while we’re at it I want death by boa constrictor and the ability to throw some black widows on someone's bed. Don’t let me down IO.
Hitman 2 will have six levels playable at launch, including Colombia and the previously revealed Miami racing level. For those who own the original season of Hitman, all six levels will also be playable within Hitman 2, complete with new challenges and mechanics.
Hitman 2 is out on November 13th for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
