It’s flying under the radar a little, but Life is Strange 2 developer Dontnod also has a second notable game headed our way - Twin Mirror. Borrowing much the same episodic adventure format as Life Strange, Twin Mirror looks to be a much darker psychological thriller, once again adopting the choice-driven mechanics and branching storylines.

In a new developer diary, we see how Dontnod is going about laying the building blocks of Twin Mirror, including the setting within the rustic American town of Basswood, West Virginia, and the characters which inhabit the world and inform the tone of the game.

In Twin Mirror you play as Samuel, a 33-year-old man who returns to his hometown of Basswood to attend the funeral of his best friend, having just recently broken up a long-term relationship. They say bad news is like buses… Having arrived in Basswood, Samuel wakes up to find himself in his hotel room covered in blood and with no memory of what happened the previous night. Things are going from bad to worse for poor old Samuel.

The first episode of Twin Mirror is dubbed Lost on Arrival, and it’s due to launch in 2019 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
