Players will be taken to the outer depths of space aboard the Observation space station and will be tasked with finding out what fate befell astronaut Dr. Emma Fisher and the rest of the space station crew. Players will assume the role of S.A.M., the space station’s AI system, utilising S.A.M.’s entire suite of cameras, control systems and tools in order to find out what happened.
“Let’s get real, we’re five to ten years away from the machines taking over,” said Devolver Digital CFO, Fork Parker. “Observation is just going to give a taste of what it will be like to converge their minds with that of a CPU before it all happens suddenly for real.”
“Developed by veterans from studios Rockstar North, Rocksteady, Creative Assembly, CCP and IO Interactive, Observation has been crafted with precision to bring fans a groundbreaking narrative with stunning visual fidelity,” says developer No Code.
On the basis of the excellent Stories Untold, there are plenty of reasons to be excited about Observation, particularly now the studio is evidently armed with a bigger budget to work with.
Observation is due to launch on PlayStation 4 and PC in Spring 2019.
