With the odds of a new Witcher game with Geralt as protagonist vanishing faster than you can say Cyberpunk, SoulCalibur VI is sure to be the next best thing. That’s because the grizzled swordsman is the star attraction of SoulCalibur 6, the first new SoulCalibur game in over six years.
SC6 is out today on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and, for the first time, PC. Early impressions are extremely positive for the weapon-based fighter, harking back to the original SoulCalibur while layering in new Reversal Edge and Soul Charge mechanics.
As it’s launch day, that means launch trailer time, naturally. Geralt gets a run-out in the new trailer, as well as a whole bunch of returning favourites like Mitsurugi, Kilik, Maxi, Sophitia, Siegfried, Ivy, and Taki. In among all the usual multiplayer shenanigans, SCVI features the series’ trademark content-rich single-player. The headline for solo players is Chronicle of Souls, a story mode that walks through the timeline of SoulCalibur’s history, as well as Libra of Soul, a custom character creation mode that then drops you on a world map that’s littered with missions and special objective fights.
SoulCalibur 6 hits today on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. Keep your eyes out for a review shortly!
