UPDATE - It's time to play the sad trombone. European retailer Media Markt has responded to the stories regarding its store listing for Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC.

Sadly, as we'd suspected, the RDR2 PC listing is just a placeholder and MediaMarkt has received no confirmation as of yet from Rockstar. However, they do certainly expect Red Dead 2 to be announced for PC eventually.

"It’s true we had the RDR2 PC version listed," said a MediaMarkt spokesperson. "I checked this with the games department at our HQ and got told that it’s something of a placeholder and that they count on it being announced sometime in the future (just as with GTA V for example). It is no longer listed as available for pre-purchase, though."

Well, it was all fun and games while it lasted. If we're being brutally honest, there was no chance in hell Rockstar was going to leak the existence of a PC version so close to Red Dead Redemption 2's October 26th console release. The wait is now officially back on.

Original Story - 21-Oct-2018 - European Retailer Lists Red Dead Redemption 2 for PC in 2019

One of Europe’s leading games retailers has hinted at a 2019 release for Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC.

MediaMarkt has a fresh store page for a PC version of Red Dead Redemption 2, alongside an expected release in 2019. However, the listing does have a placeholder date of December 31st, 2019, so there is the chance this is total guesswork on MediaMarkt’s part. Supply channels do tend to get wind of these sorts of releases early though, and Red Dead Redemption 2 PC release is surely a matter of when rather than if.

Rockstar’s open-world Western is arguably the most anticipated game on the planet right, following firmly in the footsteps of Grand Theft Auto V by launching exclusively on the PlayStation and Xbox consoles.

As you’d expect, Rockstar has kept schtum about the possibility of a PC release for Red Dead Redemption 2, trotting out the usual line that it prefers to focus its time on the PS4 and Xbox One version for now, and has no intentions for a PC version.

Over the last few months though, we’ve seen Red Dead Redemption 2 PC listed on a Rockstar employee’s LinkedIn resume, and rumours have persisted a port is in the pipeline.

The major caveat to all of this is the original Red Dead Redemption has still never made it to PC. There is precedence for Rockstar skipping the platform entirely, although that is leaving a heck of a lot of money on the table. Instead, the far more likely scenario is PC players will get an enhanced port of Red Dead Redemption 2 a year or so down the line.

Do you believe Red Dead 2 is coming to PC? It it does, when? Let us know your thoughts below!

It's all about sony wanting the PC gamers to get the PS4 version instead. Many players have a console and a PC, but most of them would always prefer the PC version if they have a decent gaming PC. Meaning, if they don't release it to PC, it's because Sony gave them a couple millions, Rockstar surely knows what they're doing.

If you can't live with out you can always pick a XIM4, plus KB+M is coming to Xbox in the future. PC is still the best, but if you're dead set on playing the game and need that KB+M then there are ways to get it.

I just figured I'd let ya know if you were ever inclined to pick up a console for it's exclusives. I greatly prefer KB+M, but I'll muddle through with a controller for some good games, like Horizon Zero Dawn. I know the struggle is real though, and there are some people that just can't use them and it's sad when that hold them back from playing great games.

Will they be able to trick PC gamers into buying a console version this time?

I am sure they will. There's probably a lot of PC players that still have their PS4s around from before GTA V came out for PC. If I hadn't sold my PS4 Pro I'd have probably given into the temptation by now and bought it digitally.

I bought it on PS3, put about 450 hours into. I bought it again for PS4, and put in close to 600 hours into it. We lost a member right around the time our PC less member got a PC, so we got a 4th member, but he only gamed on PC. Our group moved to PC, and since then I've another 500 or so hours into the game.

Oh, and there's a good chance that because I've decided not to buy RDR 2 that my crazy ass group has decided to buy it for me.

Gta v sold so much and now technically porting a game is easy so it might look possible rdr2 come to pc

Rockstar answered (vaguely) as to why that was the case back in 2011. "All we can say is that whenever it is viable (technically, developmentally and business-wise) for us to release a game for PC (or any other particular platform)—we will and we usually do (qouted pc gamer)

They might go the same route as Bungie/Activision did with destiny 2 and just skip the first game on pc. Really im fine with just the 2nd game on pc. It will have so much more than the first game anyways.

Next generation consoles are rumoured to release, or reveal next year. This falls almost exactly in line with GTA V's schedule. Release one year after on next generation consoles with a PC port also planned for release, which will inevitably be delayed into early 2020. Take Two know exactly how to maximise profits.

Just for clarification, I'm not saying this listing is accurate, just that it's hardly surprising if it is. Especially since I want this game a considerable amount.

They are so slow. GD already has PC Requirement page of RDR2 here for like 6 months ago.

I cancelled my pre-order for the RDR 2 PS4 bundle the other night. I ordered a PS4 Pro and some games instead. I think I'll take a pass on RDR 2 for a while, probably wait for it to hit PC and pick it up at a discount. It was a really hard decision for me because I have several friends on the PSN that want to play online with me, some of them guys I've done lots and lots of GTAO heists with.

If I had already splashed money on a ps4 there is no way I'd skip RDR2 but I can never justify wasting a couple hundred € for a single game. What made you wait on the game though, want to experience it only on PC? Doesn't make sense if you are soon going to own a ps4 :D

There's a lot of controversy involving crunch at Rockstar right now and the game itself includes paywalled single player story content that's exclusive to the special and ultimate editions. I've been wanting to get a PS4 for a while, I sold my last one to fun my PC build. I kind of miss having access to the exclusives. I got got God of War and Spider-man too.
