UPDATE: Following on front last month's preliminary specs, EA has revealed the final PC system requirements for Anthem. BioWare's sci-fi online RPG is quite the looker, impressing us several times since its reveal back in 2017. Anthem looks as if it's going to be quite the test for any rig, particularly if you plan to max out Anthem's PC graphics settings.
Anthem Minimum System Requirements
- OS: Windows 10 64-bit
- CPU: Intel Core i5-3570 3.4 GHz or AMD FX-6350 3.9 GHz
- RAM: 8 GB System Memory
- GPU RAM: 2 GB Video Memory
- GPU: GeForce GTX 760 or Radeon HD 7970
- DX: DirectX 11
- HDD: 50 GB Available Hard Drive Space
Anthem Recommended System Requirements
- OS: Windows 10 64-bit
- CPU: Intel Core i7-4790 3.6 GHz or AMD Ryzen 3 1300X 3.5 GHz
- RAM: 16 GB System Memory
- GPU RAM: 6 GB Video Memory
- GPU: GeForce GTX 1060 or Radeon RX 480
- DX: DirectX 11
- HDD: 50 GB Available Hard Drive Space
The minimum specs for Anthem hew closely to the preliminary system requirements. The only change of real note is to the graphics cards. BioWare has lowered the barrier to entry for Anthem's final realise, requiring just a GeForce GTX 760 2GB or a Radeon HD 7970. These seem like reasonably low spec graphics cards as far as minimum requirements go, ensuring Anthem should be capable of running on a wide range of PC gaming systems.
Everything else remains the same, bar the updated 50GB installation size. An install that size is par for the course these days, although expect this size to balloon as BioWare rolls out content updates for Anthem.
Oddly, the minimum spec OS is still Windows 10 for Anthem's final release, despite being a DirectX 11 title according to the official specs. There seems to be no good reason why Anthem shouldn't run on Windows 7 or Windows 8 so we're not sure what's up here. Luckily, there's a ]VIP Demo' at the end of the month so we should know before Anthem's launch whether it's actually possible to run on Windows 7.
As for the recommended specs for Anthem, these are actually considerably lower than we were expecting. Anthem appears to be a graphical tour de force, so perhaps the recommended specs won't be able to crank it to ultra, but the ever-popular GeForce GTX 1060 6GB should still do the job, or a Radeon RX 480 4GB in you're Team Red.
Elsewhere we see a fairly standard doubling of RAM usage to 16GB, the de facto standard for AAA titles these days. It'll need to be paired up with a solid quad-core processor such as the Intel Core i7-4790 or the AMD Ryzen 3 1300X. A modern budget Intel CPU that should be more than capable is something like the Core i3-8100.
Original Story: 30-Nov-2018 - Anthem Preliminary Minimum System Requirements Revealed, Alpha Signups Live
EA has announced an Alpha test for BioWare's Anthem, revealing a new sign-up page for those interested in participating. You can sign up to the Anthem Alpha here. The Anthem Alpha test will run over December 8th and 9th. The news has also been joined by the preliminary minimum system specs for Anthem on PC.
Anthem Minimum System Requirements (Preliminary)
- OS: Windows 10 64-bit
- CPU: Intel Core i5-3570 3.4 GHz or AMD FX-6350 3.9 GHz
- RAM: 8 GB System Memory
- GPU RAM: 4 GB Video Memory
- GPU: GeForce GTX 970 or Radeon R9 390
- DX: DirectX 12
- HDD: 60 GB Available Hard Drive Space
Okay, so the key thing to bear in mind in these are preliminary system requirements for Anthem and could be subject to change. BioWare's morning is also a little ambiguous, saying "In order to run the build, using a PC with the following specifications is strongly recommended". We're going to operate under the assumption these are the minimum specs rather than the recommended though, as we don't believe Anthem will be less demand than Mass Effect Andromeda. These system requirements for Anthem could go up or down depending on the performance optimisation and/or graphical tweaks between now and the February 22nd launch. Taking another EA beta as an example though, Battlefield V's system specs didn't change a huge deal from Alpha to launch.
In terms of what we have though, Anthem is currently looking like a very demanding experience, particularly in terms of the GPUs. The GeForce GTX 970 and the Radeon R9 390 are often the recommended graphics cards for a lot of games, but in the Anthem closed alpha they slot in as the minimum spec. Anthem could be quite VRAM hungry so a 4GB video card is looking a must. It means the recommended GPUs are likely to be in the region of the GeForce GTx 1070 and the Radeon RX Vega 56.
Fortunately, the rest of the Anthem system requirements are a little more forgiving. A decent but old quad-core processor should do the trick, paired with 8GB system memory and 60GB hard drive storage. These are all pretty par for the course these days.
One slight oddity is the Windows 10 requirement. It seems highly unlikely Anthem isn't compatible with Windows 7 but who knows, it may ultimately end up a DirectX 12 exclusive.
As always, you can check out how well your PC can run Anthem System Requirements here, where you can check benchmarking and performance from other users. I have literally never seen a more direct warframe rip-off than anthem. Don't waste your money!
PC Specs
Played only 2 hours of Warframe so I can't compare it to Anthem.
PC Specs
to be honest I loved warframe but now I am lost after not playing it for years so many new things and currency I don't understand maybe I need to make a new character.
PC Specs
There is also the option to check some YT tips and guides of you don't want to start from scratch again.
PC Specs
Dammnnn ... so hyped!!!! Can't wait to play ........ (long break cuz of excitement)....................... on my ps4 all the amazing games present there unlike this multiplayer crap that will probably be full of micro-transactions.
PC Specs
But.... this game is coming to PS4 too.
PC Specs
Was referring to the single-player games, mostly the exclusive. Not this multi-player micro-transactions nonsense that is infesting the gaming world.
PC Specs
cant wait!
PC Specs
Game felt really nice in closed alpha. Didn't had any issues running it with my laptop (helios 500) on 90fps +/- on medium settings on 1080p. Didn't tried the best settings because was too busy playing.
PC Specs
These specs are way better than the test. Hopefully it is well optimized.
PC Specs
the last trailer left me jaw dropped, the game looks gorgeous
PC Specs
Those are acceptable requirements.
PC Specs
I cannot wait to play the game with my friends :D One of my friend seems to be worried about that can hes GTX 980 run the game at least with decent settings and frames. What do you guys think? Based on my experience on the Alpha the optimization seemed good; only got frame drops during cut scenes for some reason. Other then that the game performed very well.
PC Specs
I had a gtx 980 during the alpha and it ran pretty well on max settings at 1080p dont rememeber exact frames but I know it was consistently above 40 fps.
PC Specs
Thank you! Thats good to know :) Hopefully they will still work on optimization to get even more performance out of it :D
PC Specs
Would a fast dual core like g4560 or i3 run it well? Since it would be better than a fx 6350
PC Specs
This looks fairly underwhelming. Good but underwhelming.
Now the game is just trash because it's EA.
PC Specs
i really see no reason for anyone to be hyped for this. destiny with jets? minimal narrative, shoot things numbers pop up rinse and repeat. Seems really fun?
PC Specs
I like these games, I'm a huge fan of ARPG's such as Diablo, Grim Dawn and The Division. You'd be pretty ignorant to think no one likes something just because it's not to your taste.
PC Specs
But Roley
PC Specs
Haha! xD
PC Specs
Did you play the closed beta or is it all hush-hush?
PC Specs
Yeah I was fortunate enough to get in, it looked great and played well too :)
PC Specs
jon :D :D :D :D :D
PC Specs
Played the alpha ultra settings 1050p 100+ fps. Seems like it runs decently
PC Specs
Jfyi, if you ever sign a NDA you can't tell performance aswell until they lift the NDA and explicitly say that you can reveal what you experienced back then. In worst case (lets say a big job) this can cost you your job and they can sue you.
PC Specs
I think they'll be alright ;)
PC Specs
Ok so i managed to get in the Closed alpha (YAY) anyone else here managed to get in? would love to test it out in co op since none of my friends did
PC Specs
I hope when they release this game (non alpha/beta) that the GPU minimum would be better than that because not everyone can afford a 970/390.
PC Specs
**** i missed the playtest
PC Specs
Same, but hopefully there will be another Beta eventually.
PC Specs
Uhhh... kay then
PC Specs
even their website is in alpha state, can't load anything up
PC Specs
Man, i can't even register for the alpha. The website is potatoeing on me, and i have no idea if i registered or not for the PC alpha. i cry
PC Specs
If this is minimum i cant imagine what they will ask for recomended, at this rate im going to have to drop down some settings to high :(
PC Specs
Just started now?
I am lowering settings for a long time now
PC Specs
time for 1060 as an entry level card now ;-;? lul im sitll using an i5-2320 bet ill bottleneck 35-40%
PC Specs
Why do they have system requirements when the only tests you can sign up for are on PS4 and Xbox? Apparently it's also on PC but I can only choose between ps4 and xbox.
PC Specs
It's allowing me to choose PC, Xbone, and ps4.
