Frontier Developments has announced Elite Dangerous: Beyond - Chapter 4 will be launching next week, on December 11th. The final chapter of the ‘Beyond’ seasons is being touted as the largest yet for Elite Dangerous, adding in a big ol’ bunch of free new additions for spacefarers to get stuck into.

ED: Beyond - Chapter Four chiefly features a pair of new ships, a new Analysis Mode for the Exploration Discovery Scanner and Detailed Discovery Scanner, new mining tools and mechanics, and the clan-like Squadrons for those seeking a co-operative multiplayer fix.

Behind the scenes, long-time players should also notice a new lighting engine, revamped visuals, and cockpit interface changes.

Drilling down into the new Analysis Mode for a moment, players can now perform an initial scan of a star system before then tuning their scanner to hunt for certain planets and other stellar bodies. This means players can now more specifically target what they’re actually after during exploration, making better decisions on where to head next.

Elite Dangerous: Beyond - Chapter 4 is out on December 11th for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

I'm thinking of getting this or X4 Foundations
edit: well it seems Elite Dangerous is an online multiplayer game, so no nevermind...

You can play Elite Dangerous offline, by yourself. That's how I played about 90% of the time. Unless they've changed this as it's been about a year since I played.

X4 Foundations and Elite Dangerous are great games.

If you're more into station building and trade simulation go with X4.

Yeah, actually I was an X3 player years ago. Spent quite some time playing X3 Terran Conflict and Albion Prelude.

Made my decision to go for X4 this weekend.

Did they ramp up the requirements? My 970 handled this fine maxed out at 1080 if I remember correctly...though its been quite a while since I've played....

Even I was surprised with the system requirements. Hell my laptop just might be able to play it. Gonna go on YT and see if someone with similar hardware ran run it at an ok frame rate. If so I'm definitely going to buy it.

I ran it on a amd a8 laptop on the integrated graphics no problem on very low 720p. It struggled a little in rings and it wouldn't play the game on planets in the Horizons expansion but it ran well enough. I even ran it a little worse on the intel hd 3000, but I think I lowered the resolution a little more from 720p, not to much I couldn't see stuff though.

I've got an A8 7100 3.0 Turbo Ghz CPU, but fortunately a dedicated GPU (sadly only 2GB ddr3, but still better than an old integrated gpu).
