We've taken looking at Just Cause 4's most demanding graphics options, we've shown you the Low vs Ultra comparison sliders, and now it's time for a comprehensive breakdown of Just Cause 4's PC performance across a range of Nvidia GeForce and AMD Radeon graphics cards.

JC4 is certainly no slouch in terms of its demands. Its system requirements are very high, recommending a GeForce GTX 1070 or Radeon Vega 56 GPU with a quad-core Intel i7-4770 or Ryzen 5 1600. Anything less than this and you'll need to make compromises to play Just Cause 4 on Ultra at 1080p. It all means Just Cause 4 slots in at number six on our new Top 100 Most Demanding PC Games List.

Just Cause 4 GPU Benchmarks

A huge variety of current gaming graphics cards have been tested running Just Cause 4 at both 1080p and 4K screen resolutions to determine what frame you can expect in JC4 from your GPU. All of this data and more is now stored on the graphics card pages here on GD, providing an at-a-glance look at the performance you can expect from any graphics cards you've been eyeing up.

For additional benchmark results for all of these graphics cards, follow the links through in the table below to see FPS results for many of today's biggest AAA titles.

  1080p (FPS) 4K (FPS)
GeForce RTX 20
GeForce RTX 2080 Ti 133.0 56.8
GeForce RTX 2080 111.1 47.0
GeForce RTX 2070 93.9 37.5
GeForce GTX 10
GeForce GTX 1080 Ti 100.8 43.1
GeForce GTX 1080 83.3 33.4
GeForce GTX 1070 Ti 83.0 33.8
GeForce GTX 1070 74.2 29.2
GeForce GTX 1060 55.0 21.2
GeForce GTX 1060 3GB 54.8 18.6
Radeon RX
Radeon RX Vega 64 83.8 33.4
Radeon RX Vega 56 76.7 31.7
Radeon RX 590 61.3 24.5
Radeon RX 580 8GB 56.4 22.1
Radeon RX 570 55.5 19.2
Radeon 300
Radeon R9 390 46.8 18.8
Radeon R9 380 33.0 12.8

Unsurprisingly, Nvidia sits at the top of the heap in terms of performance across both 1080p and 4K benchmarks. At 4K, there's just nothing that can really compete with the GeForce RTX 20 series. Whatever the individual results though, there's a case to be made that Just Cause 3 doesn't run all that great. Not even a $1200 GeForce RTX 2080 Ti can max it out at 4K, made all the more suspicious when Just Cause 4 appears to even be a graphical downgrade from JC3. It's a little disappointing, to be honest, and sacrifices will need to be made to 60fps at 4K. Hopefully, our Just Cause 4 PC Performance Breakdown and Most Important Graphics Options guide can lend you a helping hand.

If you're a mere mortal with a 1080p monitor then it is very achievable to hit stable frame rates in Just Cause 4 though. The Radeon RX 570 through to the RX 590 average frame rates a tiny bit higher than a 6GB GTX 1060, handing the advantage to Team Red. You'll be needing a Radeon RX 590 to average above 60fps with JC4's graphics settings maxed out though.

Should you have picked up Just Cause 4 today then be sure to let us know below how you're finding JC4's PC performance on your rig! You can also add your FPS data to GD to help our frame rate analysis become even more accurate across a range of PC gaming systems.

Drop the shadows to Medium and leave the rest on max and it is pretty much 86-103 frames for the 1080. I admit I haven't progressed to the biggest city yet, but yea'... The game doesn't feel like a looker to me, but it's detailed.

It seems like this game is just more optimiezed than the previous one.

if internet benchmark says 60fps on ultra graphics then do expect it to run 48-54 fps in the real game.

never got the whole "100% MUST ULTRA" thing... if you're already close, just tweak it a bit for 60 fps

Rx 570 faster than 1060 6gb?

I was gonna say "how is the RX 570 so much ahead of the R9 390??" but you make a fair point as well...
So, at the same time, the game is optimized for newer GPUs, but apparently, AMD only & not so much NVIDIA, yet at the same time, the RTX cards are way ahead of the GTX 1080 & ti....
I think we can agree that the optimization is some jack-sheit and some pretty heavy patches are expected

Looks like Nvidia is working hard on gimping the 1080 ti.

more like, Nvidia's priority is optimizing the 20 series and not the 10 series. Lot's of tech reviewers reviewed this and Nvidia is not gimping the 10 series through drivers.

Average fps can be very inaccurate. You should show the lowest fps too.

Pretty sure base game downloads through the disk and then the game would be updated using the internet after the cd is done installing the game. I'm not 100% sure but that's what I believe

Wow, a game that is not NVidia only optimized. 1080 still costs about 150$ more than Vega 64.

in your country maybe - here, the cheapest Vega 64 is -100 Euro more expensive than the average GTX 1080 price (RTX 2070 is a bit cheaper though...)
