Calling all fans of free stuff (and multiplayer military shooters) - the eagerly anticipated Insurgency: Sandstorm will be getting an open beta this weekend. PC players can log in and try the game for free on Steam from this Friday, December 7th. There are no signups necessary, just download Insurgency 2 on Steam and you’re good to go.

Insurgency Sandstorm has been playable in closed beta form for some time now but we’re on the home straight until its December 12th launch. In preparation for the beta, developer New World Interactive has dropped a new overview trailer for Insurgency: Sandstorm, taking the uninitiated through everything from game modes, weapons and upcoming content.

The Sandstorm beta itself will include every launch map, multiplayer mode, vehicle, and weapon, allowing players to get to grips with pretty much the entire game over the weekend.

Having missed out on the first game entirely, I’m getting real Delta Force vibes from Insurgency Sandstorm. Well, Delta Storm without the warping voxels and environments sparser than Best Buy’s bargain bin after Black Friday.

Sadly we are still waiting for the official system requirements for Insurgency Sandstorm to come our way with just a week to go until launch. Still, at least folks have the free weekend coming up to test how the performance is on their rig before signing up. On that front, of you can add your benchmark results to the site that’s always super helpful as it makes our FPS data continually more accurate and scores you some rank points to boot.

Insurgency Sandstorm is coming to PC on December 12th. A console release is expected at some point in 2019.
