Bethesda revealed a frankly belting new trailer for Rage 2 during the Game awards, alongside a much-anticipated release date for the open-world shooter. Rage 2 will be available on May 14th, 2019, for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Avalanche and id Software have teed up quite a showdown with Ubisoft in spring, the battle of the post-apocalyptic open-world shooters. Far Cry New Dawn arrives in February and is sporting a very similar aesthetic. It’s come out of nowhere and it’s in danger of beating Rage 2 to the punch. Far Cry New Dawn went the safe route with Iggy Pop for their trailer though, while Bethesda’s managed to hook in Danny Brown’s Ain’t It Funny banger in the new trailer.

Anyway, the subject of the new Rage 2 footage is its massive open-world, one which can be traversed by vehicles before transforming into a kinetic first-person shooter expertly overseen by Doom developer id Software. It could be a best-of-both-worlds solution that ends up giving Rage 2 the edge.

Rage 2 is out on May 14th to PC, PS4 and Xbox One. It’s available to pre-order right now on Bethesda’s official site but there’s currently no Steam pre-order option. All signs currently point to Rage 2 being a Bethesda store exclusive.
