Arriving remarkably late in the date ahead of tomorrow's launch, the Insurgency Sandstorm PC system specs have finally been revealed. These are the system requirements you will need to run Insurgency Sandstorm, New World Interactive's new multiplayer military online shooter.

Insurgency: Sandstorm Minimum System Requirements

  • OS: Windows 7 64-bit
  • CPU: Intel Core i5-4440 3.1 GHz or AMD FX-6300 3.5 GHz
  • RAM: 8 GB System Memory
  • GPU RAM: 2 GB Video Memory
  • GPU: GeForce GTX 760 or Radeon HD 7970
  • DX: DirectX 11
  • HDD: 40 GB Available Hard Drive Space

Insurgency: Sandstorm Recommended System Requirements

  • OS: Windows 10 64-bit
  • CPU: Intel Core i7-8700 3.2 GHz or AMD Ryzen 7 2700 3.2 GHz
  • RAM: 16 GB System Memory
  • GPU RAM: 4 GB Video Memory
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 980 or AMD Radeon R9 390X
  • DX: DirectX 11
  • HDD: 40 GB Available Hard Drive Space

Well, these have certainly surprised us. Insurgency Sandstorm is a damn demanding game in terms of specs, and will likely sit high in our list of the Top 100 Most Demanding Games on PC. Even the minimum specs for the game require a decently-specced PC, and meeting the recommended requirements puts you in the realm of a new $1000 build.

Insurgency Sandstorm is a pretty demanding game then, and meeting the minimum specs will require a solid yet aging quad-core processor such as Intel's Core i5-4440 or the AMD-6300. This shouldn't be a problem for most PC gamers, but anyway who hasn't upgraded their CPU in a while may run into trouble.

Reports from the recent beta suggest Insurgency 2 doesn't run fantastically and there could be frame rate drops and stuttering if you don't meet the specs. The bare minimum graphics card is a 2GB GeForce GTX 760 or Radeon HD 7970, but this jumps all the way up to a GeForce GTX 980 or Radeon R9 390X if you want to max the Insurgency Sandstorm graphics settings out at 1080p. These sorts of GPUs don't come cheap, although something along the lines of the GeForce GTX 1060 or the Radeon RX 580 should, fingers crossed, do the trick.

And I'll just swing back to the processors for a moment to focus on the frankly ludicrous recommended CPU demands for Insurgency Sandstorm. There's no way on the planet an Intel Core i7-8700 or Ryzen 7 2700 deserve to be in the recommended slot unless there are some performance issues. These are top, top processors and we would think much weaker CPUs should be able to run Insurgency 2 just fine.

How is the minimum requirement 2GB VRAM when the game is using all 4GB on my GPU on low settings. I won't even get into the other requirements.

I played it on low settings in 1600x900 only to get framerate around 110 avg with dips to 80s

I have no idea why everyone is bitching. The game looks gorgeous, the CPU requirements were high even in the old Insurgency for a reason, and what does everyone expect from UE4 at bigger scale?

Sad to say it's still not well optimized. I have reach 60 -80 on recommended setting but when actual fire fight start it dipped to 20 or even around 10 for me. I have decent fun playing in coop but for multiplayers in literally unplayable.

Are these requirements to play in 4K?

If not, I really hope this game has graphics as beautiful as the BFV...

GPU fine, but the recommended CPU? Doesn't make any sense, while would it jump so much? Egh, I guess that's all they had for testing.

What's funny is that I haven't even heard of this game until today and yet these are the highest recommended specs I've ever seen. Even my CPU doesn't meet the recommended spec. I wonder what gives?

The game doesn't run on my rig even at 720p on lowest settings. All 2018 AAA games are more optimized, the Closed Alpha of Anthem was more optimized than the game

the overall game has a new look to it, certainly better, but somehow, some old bugs already came back and includes some new bugs as well
