Rockstar is Hiring for a Next-Gen Open-World Vehicle-Focused Game - GTA 6 in the Pipeline?

It’s not going to go down as Keyser Söze levels of a surprise but Rockstar Games is hiring once again, and it sounds as if Grand Theft Auto 6 could be on the cards.

Both Rockstar North and Rockstar India are hiring for a range of positions geared towards next-generation projects. Over in India, Rockstar is primarily looking for animators who can help improve character animations and facial tech. They’ve got positions open for Motion Capture Animator, Character Animator, Character Rigger, Facial Animator, Technical Animation and Senior Technical Animator. This being Rockstar the applicant will naturally need “Utmost reliability & commitment to the job.” More specifically, those in these roles will “help research and develop new technology for future titles.”

But what does all this have to do with GTA 6, I hear you cry.  Well, Rockstar India is also looking for a Vehicle Artist, one who has “extensive experience in modelling, sculpting and texturing a diverse range of vehicles of all types; including but not limited to Cars, Trucks & Vans, Motorbikes, Helicopters, Planes, Military, and Boats.” The vehicles they’re creating must be original designs that are based on real-world references. Yep, that’s definitely sounding like Grand Theft Auto alright.

These recruitments aren’t just restricted to Rockstar India. There are a whole host of Rockstar studios looking for new staff to help “create next-generation worlds for some exciting upcoming projects."

Really this tells us a few things. Firstly, Red Dead Redemption 2 is probably the last and only new Rockstar game we see on current-gen consoles. Secondly, Rockstar is looking to work towards the specs of the next-gen machines from Sony and Microsoft. This indicates that a number of studios may already be working on games for unannounced consoles, both of which could feasibly be announced this year. The PlayStation 5 is looking the more likely bet due to Sony skipping E3 2019. And finally, that we’re getting a new open-world game with advanced cinematic animations and an array of vehicles that can be driven/piloted. Considering the obscene number of copies GTA 5 has sold, GTA VI seems like an absolute banker for this project.

But now the big question - assuming Grand Theft Auto 6 is real, what do you want it to be? Where do you want it set and do you want Rockstar to lean more into the online elements? Let us know your GTA hopes and fears below!

I want it to be Midnight Club, but not with generic cars.

I liked how they uniquely made their own cars. If it is it, I would like to see their creative side on making unbranded cars. They did a pretty good job on GTAV.

If they are really making the next GTA I do hope it will be good.. I actually haven't enjoyed anything else from Rockstar since San Andreas and Vice city.. even skipped gta 4. Not saying the newest ones are bad, I just couldn't get into...

I actually have to agree. GTA IV was an unoptimized mess on PC. Even though not a bad game it still to this day runs like crap. Never finished it because of it. GTA V was a massive disappointment for me. I expected so much more from that game and we didn't get that in my opinion. I still firmly believe that San Andreas was the best GTA game I've played so far.
Never played RDR and what I've tried from RDR2 was good but so boring until you get to those good parts.

Luckily I didn't have to buy GTA V nor RDR 2 as my friend is a big fan of Rockstar Games in general so I've tried them there.

GTA V was pretty good imo. What makes it a dissappointment in your opinion?

Gta6 confirmed for 2020 xD, it makes sense becasue at that time ps5 and xbox two will get released, so they can milk old gen consoles and new game console, then releasing a year later on PC for more profit, isnt that great?

It would be about time. They keep taking longer and longer between games.

It used to be 3-4 years for a GTA game, then between GTA IV and GTA V was 5 years. Now it's already been 5.5 years, and we haven't even seen a teaser trailer. Meaning it likely won't release before 2020.

I actually prefer that, at least its not following similar paths to BF series, COD franchise etc.

Yes it is a long time between, but great things come to those who wait ...

Yep quality >>> quantity ... we see how bad games got since they reduced time between them andor made them cashgrabs :(

but time only count from when they start making it as they can have 5 years between games and spend only 1 on making it so

The cynic in me says that we've not seen GTA VI because they're still making a killing on GTAV Online and they don't see the reason to stop yet. At least until RDR2 Online catches up.

Sure it's good to have some time in between but 7 or 8 years? seems like a bit much.

GTA V was good and only took 5 years after GTA IV.

I feel like they're just milking GTA Online, and they could have released a very good GTA VI already.

Especially when GTA V was simpler than GTA IV is almost every way possible.

You are absolutely crazy thinking that lol.

It's pretty obvious why 4 took longer than 3, and 5 took longer than 4, and RDR2 took longer than 5 though....

I think the more important question for PC players is, will it be released along side the next gen consoles or will we have to wait again ? ?

They might be working on a PC version alongside others, but they would still not release it at the same time.
