Bandai Namco has revealed the story trailer for Jump Force, attempting to make some sense of this reality-shifting anime mash-up of a fighting game.

Now, I won’t pretend to have any idea what’s going on here because I’ve zero experience with basically every anime property featured here, a feat which is probably enough to get me shot in some corners of the internet. Suffice to say, the worlds of Naruto, One Piece, Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, Fist of the North Star, Dragon Ball and Bleach, among others, have all become one. Jump Force features a total of 39 characters from 16 different anime series, colliding the real world with the Shonen Jump universes.

“Without warning, our world and the Jump Worlds have begun merging together,” explains Bandai Namco. “As Venoms grow in numbers and spread terror throughout the lands, it’s up to you to work with the Jump Force to protect what we hold dear. It’s time for YOU to take a stand against evil!”

I think it just boils down to a simple good versus evil tale with a spot of backstabbing thrown in for good measure. And cubes. Cubes are important.

The core of Jump Force is 3v3 tag team fighting, a notoriously tricky form of fighting game that has nevertheless enjoyed some recent success with BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle.

Jump Force is coming to PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on February 15th, joining a packed line-up on that day that also includes Far Cry: New Dawn, Metro Exodus and Crackdown 3.

As cool as this game looks i will forever be a bit sad because when i first saw it i immediately thought of a Kingdom hearts type game than just being a fighting game. A boy can dream.

The real question is will this be purely PVP or will it have a campaign?
