Codemasters has changed its plans for Dirt Rally 2.0, announcing VR support will coming in Summer 2019 after fans cried out for its inclusion.
Dirt Rally 2.0 launches at the end of this month, on February 26th, and is still on track for this date. However, unlike the original Dirt Rally, the virtual reality support had been dropped. Fans made their voices heard the old-fashioned way, without resorting to the dreaded review bomb, and Codemasters will be taking the time to add VR support to Dirt Rally 2.0 later this year.
Codemasters says the VR mode is being designed for Oculus Rift but there should be nothing to stop HTC Vive owners getting on the action too. I’ve never had the pleasure of playing Dirt Rally in VR but it sounds like a great combination. In-cockpit experiences tend to be stronger so it makes plenty of sense for those who want a greater level of racing immersion. Combine it with a nice steering wheel and you’d probably have a heck of a time.
The system requirements for Dirt Rally 2.0 were dropped a couple of weeks ago and it's slotted in as the 9th Most Demanding Game on PC. It certainly wasn't what we were expecting but it's a considerable jump over Dirt 4.
Dirt Rally 2.0 is out on February 26th for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. We’ll hopefully have a review for you nearer the time, as well as the usual benchmarks for Codies’ latest.
