Striking while the iron is hot, and Diablo Immortal is still soiling the expectations of Diablo Fans, Grinding Gear Games has revealed Synthesis, the next large-scale expansion for free-to-play action-RPG, Path of Exile.

Path of Exile: Synthesis will drop on March 8th for PC and March 11th on Xbox One. The crux of the expansion is on being able to synthesized areas and items. The various memories of a new NPC can be combined in different ways, creating unstable new areas with ultra-hard boss battles and top-tier rewards. This synthesis extends to items as well, with players able to combine Fracture Items in order to create Synthesized Items.

There’s also a laundry list of other goodies and changes, including a balance revamp for spellcasting, new archetypes, gems, items, and an updated Atlas of Worlds map. Plenty for long-time fans to sink their teeth into then, and Path of Exile continues to amass a bewildering array of content.

In addition to the expansion news, the PlayStation 4 version of Path of Exile will also be arriving at long last. Grinding Gear has said Path of Exile launches on PS4 in March and will include all DLC, right up to and including the Synthesis expansion. "It really feels like we're completing the cycle with platforms for Path of Exile," said Path of Exile managing director Chris Wilson. "We wished we could have gotten on consoles earlier, but our resources were pretty limited at the time. Thankfully we were able to get them done.”

Look out for Path of Exile: Synthesis from March 8th.
