Chernobylite is a newly announced sci-fi horror game set within the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone. It's the work of The Farm 51, creators of Get Even and World War 3, utilising 3D-scanned photogrammetry to create an eerily lifelike rendition of this abandoned area. Farm 51 has promised Chernobylite will be a non-linear experience with challenging FPS combat, crafting and survival elements, and a few supernatural twists.

At the moment, Chernobylite is coming exclusively to PC and it could end up being quite the visual tour de force. You can see the first snippets of it in action in the trailer below and The Farm 51 are aiming for an Autumn 2019 release.

Along with the announcement, we've also got our mitts on the official Chernobylite PC system requirements.

Chernobylite Minimum System Requirements

  • OS: Windows 7 64-bit
  • CPU: Intel Core i5-2500K 3.3 GHz or AMD FX-8150 3.6 GHz
  • RAM: 8 GB System Memory
  • GPU RAM: 2 GB Video Memory
  • GPU: GeForce GTX 770 or Radeon HD 7870
  • DX: DirectX 11
  • HDD: 45 GB Available Hard Drive Space

Chernobylite Recommended System Requirements

  • OS: Windows 7 64-bit
  • CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0 GHz or AMD Ryzen 5 1600 3.2 GHz
  • RAM: 16 GB System Memory
  • GPU RAM: 4 GB Video Memory
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 or AMD Radeon R9 290
  • DX: DirectX 12
  • HDD: 45 GB Available Hard Drive Space

The strength of photogrammetry technology is you can get great looking environments without a massive hit on performance. It's been used in Star Wars Battlefront 2 to great effect, for example, and despite its shortcomings, that's one of the best-looking games out there.

As a result of all of this, Chernobylite isn't actually hugely demanding in terms of PC system specs. The minimum requirements necessitate a quad-core processor and a 2GB DX11 video card with average performance, but they're the only major hurdles you're going to run into. Most modern entry-level cards such as the GTX 1050 or the RX 560 should run Chernobylite without a hitch.

Should you want to pull a Spinal Tap and turn the graphics up to 11, you'll be needing a generational step up in video cards. The 16GB RAM and the bump in CPU don't sound as if they'll be strictly necessary for 1080p/60fps, so it's the video cards that'll be doing a lot of the legwork. You'll benefit from having 4GB VRAM while playing Chernobylite. The GTX 970 can run into a few problems these days but it's still a very popular card and it should be able to run Chernobylite on High without any issues.

As always, you can check out how well your PC can run Chernobylite System Requirements here, where you can check benchmarking and performance from other users. Compare your graphics card to Chernbylite GPU benchmark chart and we also have a Chernobylite Frames Per Second system performance chart for you to check out.

I get STALKER vibes from Chernobylite. I want this. From the trailer, it looks pretty good. And the graphics look really good.

I've been craving for another STALKER spiritual successor. Hope this can live up to my expectation.

Yes. Metro is amazing, but it didn't give me same experiences like STALKER did.

yeah the only 1 big downside of metro series is the dumb human AI , aside from that both metro and stalker are amazing and this one looks very promising already

I really hope they stick to the STALKER model, not the UBISOFT one - or in other words, a NON-pointless, NON-repetitive open world exploration experience!
