We’re now less than a week away from The Division 2’s early access launch, which can mean only one thing - it’s launch trailer time.
Ubisoft has dropped a snazzy new launch trailer that takes a general look at The Division 2’s Washington DC-based antics, including plenty of pyrotechnics, martial law, and something about unity while literally everyone is shooting chunks out of each other. It’s big, it’s dumb, and it’s looking a ton of fun.
Belter of a song Ubisoft, so props for that, and the game isn’t looking too bad either.
And, in a bit of bad news, The Division 2 also has one of those horrific tie-in apps which Ubisoft love more than fending off Vivendi. You know the score by now, Assassin’s Creed Unity had a similarly awful app that allowed players to earn unlocks in the main game. It’s much the same deal with The Division 2 Echo Experience, a mobile-only app that allows players to view more than 50 different Echo stories in order to unlock exclusive rewards and in-game items.
The whole experience sounds incredibly tiresome so let’s all hope these unlocks aren’t actually worth having, like some camo shorts, jorts, a wallet attached by a chain, or other similar fashion disasters. It’s exclusive to Facebook Messenger and it seems to be some sort of AR, Pokemon Go type experience and arguably sounds like the worst possible use of anyone’s time. If you’re feeling brave it can be played here.
The Division 2 is out on March 15th, or you can play up to three days early if you stump up the cash for the Gold or Ultimate editions.
