Creating Cyberpunk 2077 Trailer Revealed, CDPR Says 'Work is Far From Over'

A new video for Cyberpunk 2077 has dropped in conjunction with PlayStation, of all places. Creating Cyberpunk 2077 is an update from CD Projekt RED on how development on the first-person sci-fi RPG is progressing. And look, it’s not much, but info on Cyberpunk 2077 is so hard to come by these days that we’re all over this like a pack of ravenous hyenas.

There may be a smidgen of new gameplay in here, although much of it seems to be footage taken from the extensive 45-minute gameplay demo released for Gamescom 2018. CDPR do touch on a few interesting topics though, including what the studio’s been doing all this time, why they opted for first-person, and what their overall vision is for Cyberpunk 2077.

The kicker at the end sank our spirits somewhat though. “Cyberpunk 2077 may no longer be the mystery it once was, but work on it is far from over," says the distinctly Geralt-sounding narrator. “True to promise made in 2013, it’s still coming when it's ready." Give me a moment while a wail into the abyss.

Cyberpunk 2077 is coming when it’s done then, which we’re optimistically hoping is 2020. CD Projekt RED is still claiming Cyberpunk is coming to PS4 and Xbox One alongside PC, but this is a game with next-gen written all over it.

Better get the first impressions right, don't wanna end up like NMS, which despite being good NOW, its reputation is already tarnished from release.

I'll wait as long as I need to for this game, Don't rush this cdpr, because you can't rush perfection.

Um yes... haven't you noticed that games take longer and longer to make as they get more complex?

I do find common sense in that... But i don't find logic in announcing game that long before actual release.

Totally agree with that. I can't stand waiting half a decade for something. It just feels crazy sometimes

You ever did anything that you were really proud of and couldn't wait to tell anyone about it? This is the same situation CDPR is really proud of what they have so far and they want it to be amazing, and from the concept artwork leaked 4 years, they really want it to succeed

So what is it then. First the game is playable all the way through and they made it sound like only polishing. Now far from over lol.

Oh well, I've still got a lot of games to catch up on. Hopefully I can do that before Cyberpunk releases...because when it does, that's all I'm playing.

How about a topic for debate:

"Are phones stronger than what our PC's were 10-15 years ago? How long do you think it will take phones to reach the level of computing power required to run games like The Witcher 3 & GTA V? Will it be lesser than the current gap: 2005 processing power in 2019 to 2015 processing power in 2021?"

Could it be possible for them to have the same processing power in the near future?

The main problem with phones is that their power is restricted by thermals or power. They will be more powerful in 10 years ofc, but the gameplay experience you get on a phone nowadays (with no gamepad) is quite restricted.

The gamepad issue can be solved with a bluetooth controller. I have a decent little pocket controller I use for my emulators. As for the gameplay restrictions, well... Nobody thought we'd have HD graphics on a portable system like the Switch ten years ago. It's hard to say what the next decade will bring.

and in 2 years from now they release it on mobile(just joking)
it looks and sounds good but i hope that we will be able to switch between 1st and 3rd person as i would preffer to see the character while moving around and switch to 1st person in combat

I love CDPR but they shoudn't have released that teaser in 2013,6 years and still the game is far from ready,i'm a patient guy and i'm sure it will be worth the wait but still,it's cruel,we have feelings you know :'(

even if the game comes out in next gen consoles , the only difference will be graphics, so it can't be trully next gen .

Well the current consoles are CPU bound because it sucks in both consoles.Imagine what they can do with a powerful Ryzen.I wouldn't count on the difference being only in graphics.

Cause as a developer they need to know how much money they should be willing to invest. By getting such positive reception they invest more to give you more but get even more people. I think it makes sense, however painful it is waiting :)

it's a sneaky way to figure out if it makes sense to develop at all, and eventually what to change,
hype like that encourages fans to come up with ideas, hate and all the shizz, which may prove useful to devs
