It can sometimes feel like Lovecraftian horror games are everywhere these days, although seldom do they actually live up to their legacy. Frogware's The Sinking City is looking mighty promising indeed though, pairing a 1920's-style investigative adventure with a flooded city, bizarre murders, and creeping dread of cosmic horrors. The Sinking City comes to PC in June, and here are the PC specs you'll need.

The Sinking City Minimum System Requirements

  • OS: Windows 10 64-bit
  • CPU: Intel Core i5-2500 3.3 GHz or AMD FX-8300 3.3 GHz
  • RAM: 8 GB System Memory
  • GPU RAM: 4 GB Video Memory
  • GPU: GeForce GTX 770 4GB or Radeon R9 380X
  • DX: DirectX 11
  • HDD: 40 GB Available Hard Drive Space

The Sinking City Recommended System Requirements

  • OS: Windows 10 64-bit
  • CPU: Intel Core i7-3770 3.4 GHz or AMD FX-8350 4.0 GHz
  • RAM: 8 GB System Memory
  • GPU RAM: 4 GB Video Memory
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 or AMD Radeon R9 290
  • DX: DirectX 11
  • HDD: 40 GB Available Hard Drive Space

It's easy to see these system specs for The Sinking City could be problematic for some. The recommended system requirements are fine, they're exactly in the ballpark for what we'd expect from a game of this visual caliber and slightly below the usual AAA specs.

The minimum requirements for The Sinking City, however, really aren't much of a drop at all from the recommended specs. For whatever reason, Windows 10 64-bit is cited as the minimum OS, despite the lack of DX12 support. We expect this to change between now and TSC's June launch as it just doesn't make sense to disregard half the potential audience like that.

Elsewhere, Frogwares suggest a minimum 4GB DX11 video card. This would include a handful of the GTX 770 variants, and all Radeon R9 380X's. It's difficult to envisage The Sinking City failing to run on some much weaker GPUs though, and we'd be surprised if the GTX 750 Ti/GTX 760/R9 370 can't at least get playable frame rates at lower resolutions.

And then one final, teeny tiny catch - The Sinking City is exclusive to the Epic Games Store for one year, coming to Steam exactly a year later, in 2020.
