We’re fast coming up to that time where E3 begins to spring more leaks than a hedgehog’s raincoat so it’s about time we beat those pesky leakers to the punch. Microsoft, EA, Bethesda, Nintendo, Ubisoft, and more, are going to be out in full force at E3 2019, with the absolute curveball being Sony, which bizarrely won’t be in attendance whatsoever.
E3 2019 in June is going to be anything but predictable. The rumour mill’s spinning so fast on new console details it’s got us dizzy, and some of the biggest publishers in the world have some suspiciously bare upcoming game schedules. What the heck is Ubisoft doing outside of Skull & Bones and Beyond Good & Evil 2, for example? And just what does Bethesda have planned once Doom Eternal has turned up and assuredly blown us all away?
We’re expecting major announcements, the possibility of next-gen console reveals, and absolutely nothing at all from Valve (does anti-jinxing work?). It’s sure to be a proper fizzpopper, but before it’s all laid bare, it’s time to discuss those 'unpredictable' predictions.
I’ll get things going with a few of mine before I hand it over to you lot and your wily ways.
First things first - Sony’s PlayStation 5 reveal. I don’t believe this takes place before E3 2019. I’d love to be surprised, but I can’t see it happening. However, on the subject of Sony, I think a new trailer and a release date for The Last of Us: Part 2 is published during E3, and I believe it’s going to be a 2019 title and a fine send-off for the PS4.
I also believe we’re going to get at least two huge reveals from Ubisoft. The first of these, Watch Dogs 3, will probably be revealed a few weeks before E3. The second, Splinter Cell, is going to be Ubisoft’s conference closer. I don’t believe Splinter Cell is anywhere close to release but I do think it’s in development. A nice cinematic trailer just to confirm it once and for all should do the trick.
I’ll leave my predictions there before I get carried away and list them all though, so now it’s over to you.
What are you expecting to get revealed at E3 2019? Are we set for a quiet year as the console gens wind down, or do you think there are plenty of secrets ready to be laid bare?
