Respawn has proven itself fairly unwilling to mess with a working formula since Apex Legends’ February 4th launch, preferring to make tiny tweaks rather than the wholesale weekly changes we see in Fortnite. This has naturally led to worries over stagnation but, content aside, the new Apex Legends patch 1.1.1 makes comfortably the biggest balance changes since launch.

Top of the pile is the hitboxes for the so-called ‘Thicc Bois’, Gibraltar and Caustic. Both of these big-boned hulks have received the new ‘Fortified’ passive perk, reducing incoming damage by 10%. Caustic has also had his gas damage quadrupled and canister throw distance increased. Gibraltar now benefits from a 50% improvement to Gun Shield health.

Jump Ship speed has also been increased 50% so late droppers don’t find themselves too far behind the curve in terms of loot gathering and storm dodging.

The rest of the changes are all related to specific weapons, including all sorts of assorted buffs and nerfs. I won’t go into too much detail myself, it’s probably better for you to see it all listed out for yourself. Suffice to say, the Wingman has taken a bit of a battering, as has the Spitfire, while the Longbow and the Havoc have been given some proper loving to try and close the gap.
