Ubisoft has announced the release date for ‘The Fate of Atlantis’, its second post-launch story arc for Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. The DLC will span three episodes, beginning with Fields of Elysium, where players will head into the Greek afterlife to explore the realm of the ancient gods.

The paradise of Elysium is a place of great beauty, although Kassandra and Alexios won’t be going there to put their feet up and have some souvlaki. Sinister goings on are at play in Elysium, overseen by the ancient species of Isu.

AC: Odyssey - The Fate of Atlantis will include new factions, new legendary weapons and gear, and new ability enhancements such as Bull Charge, Time Warp, and Ares’ Madness. The first episode will launch on April 23rd.

“Following the first story arc, Legacy of the First Blade, The Fate of Atlantis will see our hero confront deities, encounter terrifying beasts of myth, and forge new bonds with a colourful cast of characters,” says Ubisoft. “After Fields of Elysium releases on April 23rd, the second episode, Torment of Hades, and the third episode, Judgment of Atlantis, will complete the second story arc mid-2019 on all available platforms.”

The DLC expansions definitely provide an opportunity for Ubisoft to get a little wild with Assassin’s Creed, exploring the more fantastical, mythological elements of these historical settings. It’s a neat of doing it, in truth, as the purists get a game which at least attempts to be historically authentic, while the expansions can explore the playful side of history, whether that’s Greek mythology of Egyptian gods.
