Bethesda has revealed the PC system requirements for Rage 2. The upcoming post-apocalyptic open-world shooter launches on PC on May 14th, developed through the twin talents of Avalanche Studios and id Software. Rage 2 combines the open-world chaos of Just Cause with the fast-paced FPS action of Doom. Here are the system specs you'll need to run Rage 2.
Rage 2 Minimum System Requirements
- OS: Windows 7 64-bit
- CPU: Intel Core i5-3570 3.4 GHz or AMD Ryzen 3 1300X 3.5 GHz
- RAM: 8 GB System Memory
- GPU RAM: 3 GB Video Memory
- GPU: GeForce GTX 780 Radeon R9 280
- API: Vulkan or DX11
- HDD: 50 GB Available Hard Drive Space
Rage 2 Recommended System Requirements
- OS: Windows 10 64-bit
- CPU: Intel Core i7-4770 3.4 GHz or AMD Ryzen 5 1600X 3.6 GHz
- RAM: 8 GB System Memory
- GPU RAM: 8 GB Video Memory
- GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 or AMD Radeon RX Vega 56
- API: Vulkan or DX11
- HDD: 50 GB Available Hard Drive Space
Despite the involvement of Id Software, Rage 2 is actually being developed in Avalanche's Apex Engine rather than id Tech 6. It's the same engine as the one used for Just Cause 4 and so is evidently well suited to an open-world adventure. It's a relatively unproven engine in the world of first-person shooters, but id's involvement should steer on the right track.
As a result, Rage 2's system requirements are ultimately fairly similar to Just Cause 4's. Rage 2 is the more demanding of the two, with higher minimum specs, although both share identical recommended system requirements. It's still unclear which graphics API is being used for Rage 2 though. The Apex Engine supports both DirectX and Vulkan, so it could still be either/or. Considering Just Cause 4's fairly pitiful performance though, this gives us cause for concern.
In order to meet the minimum specs for Rage 2, you will need a quad-core processor and a DX11-capable graphics card with at least 3GB video memory. This could pose a bit of a problem for those with budget GPUs such as the GTX 750 Ti and GTX 950, although we remain slightly hopeful Rage 2 will still be playable with 2GB VRAM. You'll also need a fairly low-end quad-core processor.
Should you want to get Rage 2 looking its absolute finest, you'll obviously need a far faster rig. An 8GB graphics card is recommended, putting Ultra out of reach for all but the most powerful PC configurations. Judging from Just Cause 4, we'd guess these specs will be suitable for 1080p or 1440p on the Ultra graphics preset.
As always, you can check out how well your PC can run Rage 2 System Requirements here, where you can check benchmarking and performance from other users. Compare your graphics card to Rage 2 GPU benchmark chart and we also have a Rage 2 Frames Per Second system performance chart for you to check.

Rage 2 is cool and all, but I'm sad the people forgot about the Mad Max game by Avalanche too! (https://rawg.io/games/mad-max)

Rage 2 reminds me of Metro and Mad Max combined xD

Only 8GB of system ram recommended for a new AAA open-world game?!

Still not up for preorder on Steam.. Hmmm do they wanna push their awful bethesda store? Well as long as it launches on Steam on release-date I'm fine with that lol.

Got high hopes for Vulkan API :)
PC Specs
Ugghh my CPU as the minimum :(
PC Specs
Yeah! Noticed that too. I'll end up being forced to upgrade it soon :(

Fast FPS huh? Cant wait to see sli performance then.

Oooof, I was under the impression we'd be seeing an idTech engine there. Now I'm not really that optimistic about it looking good/running well anymore. Deffo no pre-order on this one.

I did play Rage on the PS3 and it was pretty good, though I didn't finish it. I hope Rage 2 will be a much different experience and not just the same from 2011. I doubt I will have my new laptop in two weeks so if I buy Rage 2, it will have to be on the PS4.

hmm... so it won't be exactly DOOM quality optimization... let's hope the VULKAN API compensates
PC Specs
its open world ..unlike DOOM ..also Avalanche worked on it ..

Quietly optimistic for this game, I don't often go for straight up FPS games anymore, but this does look like it could be good fun.

I'm personally not a fan of all the vibrant colorful pink style... otherwise, yes, seems to be fun at least

Any old-fashioned fast-action FPS game gets a pass from me. DOOM and Wolfenstein got it right!
