Another year, another official Formula 1 game from Codemasters, with F1 2019 Anniversary Edition celebrating the sim racing series' 10th anniversary under Codies' stewardship. This year sees the inclusion of F2 for the first time, as well as all the usual improved visuals and updated rosters. F1 2019 is out earlier than usual this year, coming to PC on June 28th, and here are the PC system specs required to run F1 2019.
F1 2019 Minimum System Requirements
- OS: Windows 7 64-bit
- CPU: Intel Core i3-2130 @ 3.4GHz or AMD FX-4300 @ 3.8GHz
- RAM: 8 GB System Memory
- GPU RAM: 1 GB Video Memory
- GPU: GeForce GT 640 or Radeon HD 7750
- HDD: 80GB Available Hard Drive Space
- API: DirectX 11
F1 2019 Recommended System Requirements
- OS: Windows 10 64-bit
- CPU: Intel Core i5-9600K @ 3.7GHz or AMD Ryzen 5 2600X 3.6GHz
- RAM: 16 GB System Memory
- GPU RAM: 6 GB Video Memory
- GPU: GeForce GTX 1660 Ti 6GB or Radeon RX 590 8GB
- HDD: 80GB Available Hard Drive Space
- API: DirectX 12
The system requirements for F1 2019 aren't a night and day difference from F1 2018, but there are some key changes that are worth highlighting.
In terms of F1 2019's minimum system specs, the only change at all is the increase in storage space required. F1 2018 required a sizeable 50GB, while F1 2019 ups the stakes with a mammoth 80GB install. Prep your SSDs for launch then, as F1 2019 has clearly been busy eating all the pies. That's about it for the minimum specs you'll need to run F1 2019 though, so if you could run F1 2018 then you should expect similar performance in F1 2019.
Things get a little more interesting with the recommended system requirements for Formula 1 2019 taking a bit of a jump. GPU demands have risen 15-30%, with Codemasters now suggesting either a GeForce GTX 1660 Ti or Radeon RX 590 for optimal performance. 6GB VRAM is also recommended.
Other big changes to the recommended F1 2019 requirements include the adoption of DirectX 12 for the first time, the doubling of the recommended RAM requirement up to 16GB, and a slight increase in the recommended Intel CPU, jumping from an 8600K up to the newer-gen Intel Core i5-9600K.
As ever, remember you can always check out how well your PC can run F1 2019 System Requirements here, where you can check benchmarking and performance from other users. So the game has double in size, pretty crazy. Can't wait to see how it compares to 2018, but from the few clips I've seen they've changed quite a bit compared to 2018.
