Asymmetric multiplayer. The bane of just about any developer. Except for IllFonic, that is, which seems to have struck a winning formula with Friday the 13th: The Game. I’ve not had the pleasure but it’s certainly got its fair share of fans. And now, IllFonic is taking a stab at another action horror great - Predator.

Predator: Hunting Grounds was revealed during Sony’s State of Play live stream, showcasing a very Friday the 13th setup. One player controls the all-powerful Predator, while the remaining players become a squad of soldiers looking to complete a mission. They’ll have access to conventional weapons such as shotguns, sniper rifles, and SMGs, and will need to use teamwork in order to survive. The Predator, meanwhile, will be loaded with alien technology, including the Plasmacaster and cloaking ability.

Details are a little bit sketchy but, judging from the trailer reveal, it looks as if Sony Interactive Entertainment is officially involved as a publishing partner, which could mean Predator: Hunting Grounds is a PlayStation exclusive. It’s also being developed in partnership with Fox. Hopefully, this doesn’t totally rule out a PC version as well, although we’re not holding our breath.

Predator: Hunting Grounds will be coming to PlayStation 4 in 2020.
