Watch Dogs Legion was unleashed on the world this evening with a lengthy gameplay trailer to kick off Ubisoft’s E3 2019 live showcase. To be honest, it was just amazing to actually get some gameplay for once, it’s been in short supply in the big conferences this year.

As expected, Watch Dogs Legion is set in an eerily lifelike rendition of London, complete with landmarks like Big Ben, the London Eye, Trafalgar Square, and, er, Camden Borough Market we guess. Being set in London, colourful language is in plentiful supply. Everyone’s a bellend, twat, wanker, bint, or bollockhead. Danny Dyer would feel right at home here.

In Watch Dogs Legion you can indeed recruit and take control of any and all of the thousands of NPCs which populate its world. Each has been given a unique set of characteristics, stats, backstory, and even a voice. Their background can then go on to directly impact cut-scenes. It’s all a bit mind-boggling and we’ll be pleasantly surprised if Ubisoft can pull it off.

Surveillance is key to all things Watch Dogs 3. Post-Brexit, the UK is overseen by an authoritarian state which tracks each citizen’s every move. DedSec London has formed a resistance group and it’s down to the player to recruit new members and bring London back from the brink.

Watch Dogs Legion is out on March 6th 2020 for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Google Stadia.
