I don’t know where the hell the time’s gone but here we are, at the halfway point of the year 2019. Six months in and six to go, but already we’ve been served up some fantastic gaming treats.
The second half of 2019 is sure to deal out plenty of bangers and potential game of the year winners, but the opening salvo during the first six months of 2019 sure hasn’t been bad either. Japanese developers provided the strong backbone on which this year has been built so far, knocking it out of the park with likes of Resident Evil 2 Remake, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, Devil May Cry 5, and Kingdom Hearts 3.
They’re really just scratching the surface though, with 2019 being defined by both surprise and nostalgia. Indie gems such as Slay the Spire and Sunless Skies finally left Early Access, while the likes of Outer Wilds and Apex Legends came out of nowhere and blew us away.
Creative Assembly refound its form with the sublime Total War: Three Kingdoms, Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled has just delivered a shot of pure, undistilled nostalgia into our veins, and Judgment, well, Judgment is the Yakuza x Columbo x Ace Attorney we’d always dreamed of.
For anyone who complains about the lack of games as well, there’s still so many more that have been racking up rave reviews. This includes Cadence of Hyrule, Katana Zero, Bloodstained, Ape Out, The Division 2, Dirt Rally 2.0, Void Bastards Mortal Kombat 11, Metro Exodus, Mordhau, A Plague Tale, Anno 1800. The list goes on and on, there really has been something for everyone in the early portion of this year.
So, without further ado, what has been your favourite game of the year so far? Have you even played any new games this year, or have you been too busy tucking into the classics?
I’ve tried to include a fair number of games in the poll below but obviously there are literally hundreds that have come out. Get voting and let us know in the comments if there’s a game you love which didn’t make it into the poll!

Capcom are going strong this year

Division 2, might be more of the same but its a superb game in its own right. They improved it a lot over the first.
PC Specs

PC Specs
I bought Sudden strike 4, a great RTS game.
PC Specs
"A Plague Tale" was a nice surprise for me.Didn't see that coming.Tho,after the first 2/3rds of the game begun to drag, but still i've enjoyed it very much.
PC Specs
i honestly prefered metro exodus to RE2. RE2 had some truly annoying puzzles at times.

Dang, should've forced my lazy ass to type down those extra characters if I knew it was gonna be that much of a riddle XD
Since we're talking about it, I totally recommend this game if you like RTS (Real Time Strategy) games

PC Specs

RE2
DMC5

Damn mobile site, I wanted to vote for Days Gone and ended up voting for the HyperSpace game
PC Specs
I'm gonna go with the minority here and say none so far. I liked metro exodus but not more than the first two games for various reasons, RE2 was good but it's yet to surpass RE4 which i consider the series masterpiece next to the RE remake.
PC Specs
Who is the criminal that voted for Days Gone ?
PC Specs
What's the problem with it? Single player open world game, lengthy and at times interesting story, tons of mechanics to unlock and upgrades to purchase, satisfying ending. All in all, it was a decent game from an otherwise unexperienced developer. Purchased it on Day 1 because I had absolutely nothing to play since RDR2 at that point
PC Specs
Not really a problem with it, but do you consider a single player game for which u can say "At times interesting story" is worthy of GOTY award?
PC Specs
But I never said I consider it that... it's just the best game of the year for me as of June... didn't even get to play a lot of the top voted games of this list yet
PC Specs
I wasn't really super serious , sorry If it came out that way. I don't like days gone and I consider its mediocrity more mind-numbing than the failure that was anthem, but I see people actually enjoying it and its cool that it has its fans.
PC Specs
Resident Evil 2 Remake. After playing so many open-world games recently it was refreshing to play a shorter third-person franchise game. Hope to pick up DMC5 & A Plague Tale later in the year.
PC Specs
I'm stuck between Total War Warhammer 2 and Elder Scrolls V Skyrim. Those are the only games I devoted any real time to in 2019.
PC Specs
Jezus, I haven't played any other game since I got Rimworld in January. But of the games I plan to play, (Metro Exodus, Outer Wilds, Slay the Spire, Maybe Sekiro) I would say it's a tie between Outer Wilds and Slay the Spire that look the most promising.
PC Specs
Of all theese i voted Slay The Spire, not only cause it's an indie and i litterally poured hundreds of hours in it, but also cause it spawned a new genre of games, only one that's really revolutionary and new, and i feel to reward them.

DMC 5
Sekiro
Bloodstained
Metro Exodus

Devil may cry 5 so far and by far
