Up For Debate - Which gaming franchise would you love to see adapted for TV?

Netflix teased out the first images from its upcoming original series based on The Witcher early last week. It’s become apparent we’re getting very close to this series becoming a reality and hitting our small screens.

Henry Cavill is beginning to look the part as Geralt of Rivia himself, even if he’s wearing a pair of jeans for some reason. Somehow Levi Strauss managed to make his way to the fictional world of The Continent. Or, as a few warped people somehow seem to think, a historical version of Eastern Europe and all authenticity that entails.

We also got a peek at Anya Cholotra as Yennefer and Freya Allan as a young Ciri.

So that’s The Witcher becoming reality then, which should be plenty exciting to see. It’s Netflix, so the odds of it being great or terrible is basically a coin flip but that's all part of the fun.

It has fired up a few exciting ideas in our minds though, tempting us to dream about which video game franchises we’d most like to see adapted into a television series, such as Half-Half-Life, a prequel to Half-Life starring a young Gordon Freeman studying a masters degree in Medical Radiation Sciences as he gets into all sorts of hijinks with an amorous headcrab, or a TV version of every Telltale series so we never have to worry about being unable to ever play them again.

Personally, I’m still holding out hope for a Metal Gear Solid TV series. I want entire episodes dedicated to codec conversations. I want the intro credits to solely be Snake puffing an entire cigarette. I want to know what happened to Mother Base, and how did Revolver Ocelot become such a psycho? Just think of the questions we could get answered. Sadly, I think it’s never meant to be.

Enough of ours though, which of your favourite videogame series would you like to see hit the small screen? Let us know below!

Max Payne. Yes, even the third one too. One of the best narrative story in gaming ever with deep atmosphere, unforgettable character and whacky fun but adrenaline-rushing gameplay. And don't forget about Max's golden one-liner. For me, before John Wick, there's a Max Payne.

to be honest any game by Remedy Studio is perfect for this format. even the ill fated Quantum Break which did in fact have a mini series in it. Alan Wake would infact be dirt cheap to produce production wise speaking

I'm working my way through Judgement atm and I'd say the yakuza series could make an interesting tale for sure! Either Kiryu or Yagami would make a loveable protagonist imo with some gritty moments and some off the cuff bits. Also Kamurocho would make for an interesting location with lots happening.

They have plenty of lore to cover from the parent series tht this game was derived from and tht is the Drakengard series. NieR Automata is a sequel to the spin off NIER from the Drakengard series which has multiple endings with many possibilities. a set of possibilities in Drakengard 1 is used to create a sequel-spin off kinda series and tht is NIER and its sequel Automata.

I will be going a bit of spoiler territory here. Drakengard 3 is the first game in the series canonically, after which it directly leads to Drakengard 1 through one ending. 3 has 4 main endings and A leads to Drakengard 1.
Now 1 too has multiple endings and in one of them u time travel from the medieval dragon age era tht the game is set in to modern day era Tokyo to fight a queen beast monster which is the last boss. u defeat the monster there, but also die from the process. the other endings lead to Drakengard 2 and other possibilities and the lore kinda stops there.

Now in the modern era, the queen beast monster's dead body spreads a virus into Tokyo and this virus spreads to the entire world somehow, leading humanity to start Project Gestalt which is the android project. NIER begins here and after the events of it, a lot of events and time elapses. then the machine attack from the aliens happens which leads to the events of Automata.

I would love a Sleeping Dogs adaptation.
But given that Hollywood has gone to lengths to screw over the original source material, i'd wager they would remake Jackie Chan's Police Story and label it as Sleeping Dogs.
And with the amount of SJWs and fake-feminists (these entitled idiots SERIOUSLY piss me off) given the reigns to social media, I doubt Hollywood (or anyone really) can adapt the complex stories and themes present in many games to the silver screen.

Being an AC fac I would have said "Assassin's Creed (Ezio's arc)" but as somebody already mentioned it, I would like "Detroit: Become Human" to have a Movie, I don't know if it would any justice being a TV Series.

assassins creed (Desmond era) has the perfect story to be a great series with multiple seasons to boot but the scope of the story would be heavily dependent on the scale of the action set pieces which for a tv series is still a big ask look

at games of thrones they had the story but no action when they did get to good action it was cause they didnt really have a any much story to work with (THANKS RR MARTIN) so live action would be a no no unless they scale down the action the

but lets be honest we play AC and do crazy stuff if that is not matched in the show whats the point. so live action doesnt really make sence unless they go the way they made the AC LINEAGE or the way the make the trailer. lets be honest tho

those trailers from the OG ASSASINS series were some of best tailers ever. they make actual movies look bad with their detailing. MoCap it all no costume no mess just good bloody acting and amazing visuals and storytelling.

the entire concept of Nier Automata won't work out in any form other than a game. tht's how it was designed and created.

There are plenty of franchises I would love to have also movies of, as long as they don't screw them up and actually try to make good movie. Witcher, The Elder Scrolls, Assassin's Creed, Hitman, Half-Life, Doom, Wolfenstein, Warcraft, Starcraft, GTA,... And yes, some of those already have movies and most of them could do a lot better and I would love them to do a lot better.
