UPDATE: Gears 5 has taken centre stage at Gamescom 2019 for Microsoft. It's their tent-pole release this autumn and it's also kick-starting another big change for PC gamers - Gears 5 is launching on Steam day and date with the Windows Store version. In amongst all the new trailers and whatnot though, Gears 5 developer The Coalition also provided the finalised PC system specs for Gears of War 5, as well as news ofsome juicy PC-exclusive features.

You can see the original set of system requirements below but, in a nutshell, these new specs trim off the Ultra requirements for 4K gaming and provide some more specific details on just how users can meet Gears 5's minimum and recommended specs.
Most important of all for those of you still holding out from your Windows 10 upgrade is that Gears 5 is now confirmed to run on Windows 7 64-bit. That opens the door to a potentially much wider audience.
We also now know that Gears 5 will take up a chunky 80GB on your hard drive or SSD. It's big but not unexpected when we see Gears of War 4 ultimately ended up taking up well over 100GB of storage once the post-launch content was added.
Original Story: 06-Jul-2019 - Gears 5 PC Minimum, Recommended and Ultra System Requirements Revealed
The Coalition are in full swing developing the latest Gears of War, now called Gears 5. And they have announced that will be running a tech test for multiplayer they are referring to as "Versus Multiplayer" on the 19th July. This will be open to Xbox Game Pass holders and Windows Store preorders. In so doing they have also shared with us their Gears 5 system requirements. They have detailed the Minimum, recommended and "ideal" which are Ultra system requirements, so all us PC gamers will get an idea of how well our own gaming hardware is likely to perform when running Gears 5.
Gears 5 Minimum System Requirements
- OS: Windows 10 May 2019 Update
- CPU: Intel i3 Skylake or AMD FX-6000 Series
- RAM: 6GB System Memory
- GPU RAM: 2GB Video Memory
- Nvidia GPU: Geforce GTX 760 or GTX 1050
- AMD GPU: Radeon R9 280 or Radeon RX 560
- DX: DirectX 12
Gears 5 Recommended System Requirements
- OS: Windows 10 May 2019 Update
- CPU: Intel i5 Skylake or AMD Ryzen 3
- RAM: 8GB System Memory
- GPU RAM: 4GB Video Memory
- Nvidia GPU: GeForce GTX 970 or GTX 1660 Ti
- AMD GPU: Radeon RX 570 or Radeon RX 5700
- DX: DirectX 12
Gears 5 Ultra System Requirements
- OS: Windows 10 May 2019 Update
- CPU: Intel i7 Skylake or AMD Ryzen 7
- RAM: 16GB System Memory
- GPU RAM: 8GB Video Memory
- Nvidia GPU: GeForce RTX 2080
- AMD GPU: Radeon RX Radeon VII
- DX: DirectX 12
First up, those Ultra settings, which The Coalition label as "Ideal" system requirements, are certainly pretty heavyweight. We think those Ultra specs are the sort of rig that will deliver a solid 60-80FPS on ultra graphics settings at a 1440p resolution.
So all of this tells us that you need a Intel Core i5-4690 3.5GHz or AMD Ryzen 3 2200G processor coupled with a AMD Radeon RX 570 4GB or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 4GB to run Gears 5 system requirements at recommended. You can expect to get around 60FPS at 1080p screen res on high graphics settings with this hardware. 8 GB will also be needed to achieve the Gears 5 rec specs and get 60FPS. Gears 5 needs a graphics card thats at least as powerful as a GeForce GTX 1050/Radeon RX 560 2GB paired with FX-6300/Core i3-7320 2-Core 4.1GHz CPU to match the min specs. This PC setup will deliver 25-35 Frame Per Second at Low graphics setting on 720p resolution. System memory for min is 8 GB. Your graphics card will need to be capable of running DirectX 12.
We suggest a 1 year old PC to play Gears 5 smoothly at recommended system requirements. As ever, remember you can always check out how well your PC can run Gears 5 System Requirements, where you can check benchmarking and performance from other users. Compare your graphics card to Gears 5 GPU benchmark chart and we also have a Gears 5 Frames Per Second system performance chart for you to check.

This look actual reasonable specs now. Like im sorry but no one basically owns a skylake soooo. Glad they finally fixed them
PC Specs
you need to edit the minimum requirements , they stated on the steam store pagethat the steam version of Gears 5 will run on Windows 7 and above , pc gamer already wrote an article confirming that
PC Specs
what gtx 970 or 1660ti? 1660ti is atleast 30% faster than 970.
PC Specs
its normal there are many system requirments that looks like they are pulled out of someons ass
PC Specs
They're the old specs, new specs up top
PC Specs
Why would they do skylake.
PC Specs
Always reading these requirements post for some laughs. This time this "will deliver 25-35fps 720p on low settings". SSSSUUUREEE... there is such a big difference between rx560 and rx570 that one can barely get 30fps and other 60 high 1080p. LOL!
PC Specs
I hope my gt 710 would handle it
PC Specs
Sorry but your GPU is below the minimum required, I'd say your best bet drop your resolution down 720p and run everything on low maybe that will help you with the game.best of luck though
PC Specs
That won't work. GT 710 is not for gaming at all. I bet modern IGPs are faster.
PC Specs
You already have a decent CPU. All you need to do is upgrade your GPU to GTX 1050 or equivalent.
PC Specs
yes like the others says i dont think gt 710 will make it work sorry but you alreeady have a capable cpu all you need is to change that gpu you can get an hd 7970,gtx gtx 670/680 (and lot of other gpus) that are verry cheap
PC Specs
and later on change your cpu to an i7 3770 ( like me witch is compatiblle with your motherboard) and you will play all the games at decent fps and good quality ) good look my friend
PC Specs
Running a ryzen 2700 32gb ram and a evga gtx ssc acx 3.0 gtx 1070 hope I will be able to at least manage 100 fps high 1080p what you guys think ? thx in advance
PC Specs
If game's keep having ultra requirements like this. Then it does seems i need to get a 2080 super or something similar to keep playing at ultra with decent fps
PC Specs
No worries, this will just be a poor optomized mess
PC Specs
Why, because it has high requirements?
PC Specs
well is coming xbox one and x as well right?
so and they have nothing close to peformance of rtx 2080 and idk how improwed visuals need to be for pc version that you can say that its optimised
PC Specs
Wow way to get on the defensive for a simple questions. Take your attitude away from here if you can't keep it in check.
Gears 4 was pretty well optimized. Just because the requirements are high, people get up in arms that's it's not optimized because such and such game runs on their system that has lower requirements and since we've only seen it running in a video and gears 4 had lower requirements, we can say it's a simple game and thus it's requirements are their to compensate for it's lack of optimization.
To put it simply
"I'm gonna trash talk it because by system can't max it out and I feel I should because I saw a video of it"
PC Specs
Just a thought: Game devs should really start pushing an extra set of requirements for high refresh rate monitor users. Nobody I know that has a 120+ Hz screen wants to play at 60fps anymore... As it stands now you look at the specs and go "ye...it'll run... but no idea what fps to expect...", so you have to wait for benchmarks...
PC Specs
144hz user here, my next upgrade will be 4k 60hz monitor, 144hz is not worth to me anymore.
PC Specs
They won't be arsed to lay out 5-8 requirements for all the combinations of quality presets, resolutions and refresh rates.
PC Specs
Have yet to meet a dev that does that.
