Id Software and Bethesda have dropped a new trailer for Doom Eternal, this time delving deep into its new Battlemode with a multiplayer overview.

Our approach to Doom Eternal’s multiplayer Battlemode is about the same as basil flavoured sorbet. It sounds awful but who knows, maybe it will actually end up working. Rather than deliver the no-frills multiplayer arena shooter we’ve been wanting since Doom (2016), Battlemode draws inspiration from fighting games for its round-based 2 v 1 multiplayer.

It basically takes everything we love about Doom’s fast, frenetic gunplay and throws it out the window. It’s two demons versus a fully-loaded Doom Slayer. There are a total of five playable demons at launch, each with unique skills and characteristics, although they seem universally slow-paced. Further maps and modes will be coming after Doom Eternal’s launch and Bethesda has promised they’ll all be free.

There’s definitely a great tactical element, particularly in terms of the pair of demons teaming up to drop traps and hazards in an effort to guide the Doom Slayer around the map.

“Play as either a fully loaded DOOM Slayer, or on a team of two player-controlled demons,” explains Bethesda. “The Slayer and the demons’ objective may be the same – destroy the other side – but their playstyles are entirely different. Which side will reign victorious?”

Doom Eternal comes to PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Google Stadia on August 14th.

Unpopular opinion: Doom 2016 was just average for me, i enjoy games with good story rather than gameplay now (used to be mostly other way around though). You cant even bhop now, for smooth gameplay better go unreal tournament or csgo. So i personally not hyped about new doom at all.

To each his own,i guess.Few of my remaining friends from the 90's thought of the game like that, and few of my friends from after the 2000's like it.But i prefer to play UT 1999 with my 90's friends.

I'm a 90's guy and I did very much enjoy DOOM 2016. The reason is that I'm not crazy about multiplayer anymore (used to play Q3A and UT1999 a LOT back in the day) - I just don't have the time for it, nor do I wanna deal with ppl. So to have something that is not based on "cover and heal" for once in the single player realm was very refreshing. The new Wolfensteins were sorta there, but I played on Uber difficulties, which pretty much ensure you can't just run-and-gun (I'm sure it works fine on easier difficulties).
I'm not stoked on the Battlemode - I really don't care that much about it, but the single player campaign of Eternal looks to be even faster-paced than 2016 - which is great!

Quake con had them sitting for 50ish minutes showing gameplay and pointing out changes they made this time around. And If I remember correctly, they didn't change anything about his movement speed, it's just when they added grappling, dodge and climbing, the regular movement speed felt so slow due to everything added.
I'm very much excited by this game, hope they don't F it up with MTX and the like.

It's gonna be dead within a few weeks anyways. Don't understand why they even bother.
